Well I am a concept player. I like to set rules for myself and stay in character.

I have adopted the concept of a character who cant speek. So I never chat. (by the way we need more emotes my vocabulary of expression needs expanding)
I started on Arawn (it started with an A so i guess it was the first one on the list) and I didn't want to be too obvious so I gave myself the latin name Placidus.
Well that didn't work well. At level 61 I think lots of folks consider me a jerk since I wont chat.
I think it was too subtle so I made a new one on Morrigan with the name VowOfSilence. Which I like better because it has the ring of a religious commitment which appeals to me.
I am having a little more success. I friend everybody and clan hop alot. I have never turned down a clan request. But I am fickle. So when the clan has a dead spot when nobody is on I move on. I have noticed a lot of clans on Morrigan have time slots when nobody is on at all. I think im on my 7th clan and im not yet level 40.

Well I like the concept and the name so I started a character on every world to reserve the name. Depending on the world I change class and sex. What can I say, I'm fickle.

Hello VowOfSilence! Your style of game-play is very interesting...it's nice to see you being able to chat on the forums.

Thank you. I think the most fun in a game is the pesonality you choose. Characters with a history and issues are the most fun. Imagine playing a character that had a phobia of whistles, or was suspicious of all men in uniform with beards because their mother was killed by a man with a beard in a uniform. It adds personality. Thats kind of thing is hard here so I decided on something more workable.

Remember "The Princess Bride"? The swordmaster with a hatred of six fingered men. "My name is Inego Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." That's what you remember of the character. Its the backstory that makes it interesting.

Well i have to group with someone and work together for a while before they figure out I really have a vow of silence. Then communication becomes possilbe.
I use the salute as a yes.
The sad as a no. I use a bow for a thank you.
Anything beynod that is more difficult.
When I want to get somebodys attention like if a defector is up, I run up jump run back and group them. Normally try it a few times but most people still dont get what Im doing. A follow me wave would be very helpful but I dont expect anybody would use it but me.
Ive tried the standard wave but most people just see that as a "Hi" and wave back.
Ive had people suggest I chat but use emotiocons only but I think that is kind of cheating. And it would be too easy to slip up.

Havn't found a way to do the duskshadow armor quests other than just camp the boss and wait for somebody to come by and try to group them. I need to work a relationship with somebody first. trying to tell somebody where to teleport to is not possible right now. But its more of a challenge.

I dont get mad at people or the game because they dont understand me and thats ok. If I did chat and they still acted rude that would be frustrating so this kind of protects me from frustration.

I can only imagine what it is like to be handicapped and this helps me be more grateful for the gifts I have.

That is honestly so interesting. If you make it to end-game without having broken your vow, it will be very impressive indeed. Maybe someone will understand you completely and tell people you come across that you have this vow; that way, people will be able to interpret your emotes better.
