If there aren't many mages why are blue rems and tabs and blue crests most common?
Well, probably because drops are random. Since there are less mages to use them, they become more and more common. Right ?
No, not exactly. Admin said that drops are skewed based on class distribution, with warriors drops more common because there are a lot of warriors compared to other classes.
However, mage drops are the next most common, and the chart shows they're the least played class.

Don't quote me on this but they may be using total player numbers. What they need to use is total players of each class between lvl 70-110 to balance rem drops, and 110+ to balance crests, ect.

In my clan we are always Waaay short on red rems and tabs compared to others.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

If i'm not mistaken, this means there were, between all the 75+ :
43,9% of warriors
16,3% of rangers
13,7% of druids
15,7% of rogues
10,4% of mages
That's about the same percentage of mages as now.
There are less warriors now, but not more mages or druids. Does it mean that mages and druids are unattactive to players ? Yes. Why ? Because of the restraints they both have had since pre-update.
Druids are THE healing/support class, with the least damage of all classes. Now, not that many players enjoy sitting in the back letting others fight, even though healing is as important as tanking. That's why there is always a lack of healers in many MMOs.
Mages, on the other hand, suffer from the "false advertising" of being a caster dps class, which is why many newcomers choose them at first (because, really, who doesn't like to make their foes burst in flame or freeze solid ?) but then, at higher levels (above 20) they begin to lack dps due to few skills and too little energy regen. Hence the switch to another class, most probably warrior, who does what all the mage can't : ability to tank, to keep on tunning even without energy, and high dps.
I think that not many people play as druids or mages because people think that their robes make them look like sissies.
That's my opinion. I have nothing against mages and druids though. I'd happily play on a mage or a druid account.
There might be that too, but even so, those people would have chosen another class from the beginning. But here, with those graphs, we can see that mages are more "numerous" below lvl20 than they are above. People choose the class, play for a while, then quite a few give up and quit or start another class.

In most RPGs mages are harder and slower to level. Warriors are typically the easiest. However, mages are then also very powerful at high levels to make up for this and this does not just mean dps. I don't think we actually know whether something like this is the case in CH or not. I certainly do not. Personally, I would not mind the difficulty of leveling mages if I had a better feeling about this 'end game' pay off. I would also rather have any changes reflect this, rather than just making mages easier to level, but that is just me.

It is interesting to look at the nature of Aggaroth drops. The Mage drops seem to be mostly Ice related.

I agree, the data gives us a feel, but even if we can makes the graphs "right" it doesn't mean we did it in the best way possible.

I can see where your coming from Caliban and that may be a good option.

Should a level 125 warrior be able to out dps a level 128 Mage? This Mage in question has max lure of fire, fire bolt, max lure of ice, and ice shards in a full foc build(870 foc). Not right at all:(

I think the warrior should be the higher DPS. He has higher armor, way more health, and can level easier. He deserves the better DPS.

i will say this again (though it makes some mages angry)

i think of mages as a damage support class

a mage with the proper lures can almost half the time it takes a group to kill a boss

mages and druids are support/caster classes

druids keep u alive, mages make you destroy unfathomable

i love mages, lol i think they are an awesome class and whenever i get bored of pig i go on my mage (lvl 83, currently full fire build which works well until u hit lava floor)
pigman, with the fury of the pigs and the mind of a man
level 210+ rogue
Morrigan
Avalon

Well I do plan to use a alt and rebirth book to go pure support soon as I get assasin lure so I'm making the most of the situation.

However mabye in theory your right, but I haven't seen this in practice. I think you would have to go pure support to see results you talk of, but I don't think many mages would find that role appealing.

, secondly, the easiest way to be successful dps solo is to go pure fire, max cloak bolt incinerate and lure, extra points in firestorm or iceshards

you do MASSIVE fire damage as everything is focused into one lure, this stops working once you hit the lave floor... but you could quite concievable level up to 130 like this
pigman, with the fury of the pigs and the mind of a man
level 210+ rogue
Morrigan
Avalon
