Ice Shards does most dmg out of all spell attacks(Storms Touch, Lightning strike, fire bolt, firestorm), and all physical melee attacks (Giant Swing, pummel, sweep, sharp shot, assasimate, quick strike, sneaky attack.) Not 100% sure, correct me if u think im wrong.

Ice shards does the most damage but after that a class can catch up and surpass it with melee.

I do tend to agree Mages need more than just one change. Hence I am going to write down what I have gathered so far from numerous posts:

1) Balance greatly required between Damage and energy cost / restore – At best, a player can get 75 energy regen per tick with current lux gear which equates to 900 mana regen per minute. This may seem a lot but it is not. Mages do not have the luxury of resting 3 to 5 minutes in boss /solo / group fights for their mana pool to be restored. Hence they are *encouraged* to buy energy sigils to help hasten the process. Yes, admin has introduced several energy solution skills but it basically means more skill points to be taken from damage skills and lures. Even after spending say 4000 plats to get 500 energy sigils, high lv mages are still dishearten to find themselves being out dps by equal lv warriors. Yes, people always talk about Mages dealing awesome 1k to 2k ice shands but it has a huge reloading time. (Probably about 3 fireballs worth?) Remember DPS stands for damage per second and hence 1k to 2k ice shand damage is really low compared to non-caster classes swinging their auto swing per second enhanced by event gear and heroic haste 30%. So after spending 100$ just to cushion the mana regen issue, mages still don’t really rock in damage. So to balance it, its either to increase the damage of existing spells due to the current penalty of energy cost and regen or to reduce the energy cost for the current lack of overall damage of spells

2) Lux Gear– Caster class only have Mana regen or Focus gear from lux shop. High lv casters will agree that the 150 focus (Book and helm) really does nothing for them due to potential rate of returns from 500 / 600 focus and above. So to fix it, please introduce the highly rumoured / anticipated caster gloves for either increased casting speed or reducing energy cost. This will be a huge cheer from Mages & Druids. We honestly need it and it is high time we have it.

3) Armour Gear resistance – Currently, all classes have the same resistance (magic, ice & fire) Surely this cant be right? I can accept caster classses having terrible armour compared to warriors. But I cannot understand why mage / druid resistance shouldn’t be higher than the other classes. This should not be right. The higher resistance in magic, ice & fire should be compensated for our low armour. I really hope this gets reflected in dragon gear.

4) Frozen Weapon – Bane of Crom is a joke for all casters which I need not explain further. Hope this gets amended in dragon weapon too.

5) Energy Shield cool down and wands – Numerous posts about this already

At the end of the day, we are all here to enjoy CH, an online developing game designed by IMO. While we all know and appreciate admin and his merry team for all the hard work and fast responses, along with the summer event and new map approaching, we casters do feel it’s really time for Admin to fix issues that have been floating for a long time as the issues mentioned matters to us, a lot. We have commented along with giving constructive feedback on fixing it. Hope it gets addressed asap. Thanks

Mages are easy to level if you have high level Druids willing to do some crazy stuff :) My Druids heal me while I'm in firecloaks lol I went from 1-37 in a few hours :p No exp pots
I mean no offense but as a level 37 you are still considered a 'noob'. Many post already mentioned that most mages start facing serious problems around level 110-115.

Admin,

The one thing I want most? More CONSISTENT and HIGHER damage! This is coming from the mage that currently has, by far, the HIGHEST MAGE DAMAGE on ALL worlds. So rogues have the FASTEST damage, that’s great, wouldn't change a thing there. Mage damage is tolerable at its current speed but it should be much more consistent and much higher. (Why against a training dummy can I hit 2980 with shards and on the next training dummy only 1400? That is a very skilled training dummy indeed.) That way we both have an important niche to fill and we both have a chance to get the kill.

That is the think I want MOST, that can be done with a minimal amount of effort. However, there are many MANY other changes that need to be made.

I would also like to say before I continue below that I love this game and I think OTM has and continues to do an amazing job overall!

[rant]

It seems like the original OTM vision for mages was a bit fuzzy but definitely dps oriented as stated in the tips - Great! However, it seems like the devs either lost sight of their original vision for mages or, it wasn't defined clearly enough to begin with. Thinking even more broadly, sometimes it feels like no one at OTM really has caster passion or truly, deeply delves into the nuances of castors in general. Is there a dev team focused on each class and taking a holistic approach looking at how the pro's of the castor classes, of which I have to say there are few at the moment, balance with the cons? Or are there dev's who have a passion and good understanding for melee damage being tasked with growing the castor classes as well.

I have to say that I agree with many of the comments regarding the imbalance when it comes to perks aimed at melee classes. I understand that giving mages and druids lux or special event items that help with casting by shortening resets or reducing energy costs or amplifying size of heal/damage, etc. is a game engine change...so do it all ready! It is absolutely not fair to give three fifths of the population such a huge perk as 30% attack haste, stacked with elixir haste, stacked with helm damage stacked with potential of plus 100's to every strike with a weapon from the summer event items while continuing to leave the remaining two thirds with nothing. It should have been called the melee event not the summer event!

Melee classes, please refrain from lecturing about how haste gloves, helms, summer armor, etc. will increase my attack with my toothpick. Please note that said toothpick does, at best 1% of my damage to the mob for reasons stated in prior posts. Would haste gloves be a good investment and perk for you if they only increased your potential damage by .3%? As a rogue/ranger/warrior would it feel good to get the message: You have killed a Aggragoth. Why shouldn't mages have the same shot, especially seeing as we are listed in the tips as DPS?

(Also, PvP is irrelevant at this point in the discussion. It is not as popular as originally intended and is, at best, a negligible part of the game content.)

[/rant]

Sincerely,
Cheers!

I would like to be able to tweak wand damage just as any class can do their weapon. Wand is the only weapon whose damage cannot be increased by adjusting stats. All other classes can boost their weapon damage by increasing strength. Either focus or strength, give mage wands a stat related boost. Make wand relevant and not just a decor. :) thanks very much.

Mages need more varieties of spells, it we continue to have the suckish armour and melee dmg. We have the WORST melee dmg, and guess what? Strength doesn't improve it. We have the worst melee, and we cannot get it stronger, in more general terms. Eventually our shields will break, then we're out of energy, and we die cuz we have terrible armour. We seriously need more improvement.

IDEAS

-Change how sacrifice works. Change it to work like Touch.

-For ex, Natures Touch heals 1000 hp at the cost of 80 energy (terrible ex. but u get the point.)

-Sacrifice should heal 1000 mp at the cost of 80 health.
