Consider an alternative:
Nothing is more frustrating than having your big gun miss and waste all that energy an wait fot it to regen.
Consider instead to have all 4 of your damage spells do the same damage so you are constantly doing damage an no one miss is devastating.

Interesting, I know having bolt and cloak maxed, for my level, has saved my bacon many times. I'd be hesitant to lower their levels any, but I'm not opposed to trying to see if I can kill a mob in roughly the same amount of time or, dare I say, faster.

At my current levels my order of operations is as follows:
Shield
Cloak
Lure of Fire
Incinerate
Firebolt
Ice Shards

One round and back to Firebolt usually kills 1 and 2* mobs my level or a couple higher.

Max fire cloak because it doesn't miss
Fire bolt has a very fast recharge so you can put more points into it
But try to get ice shards, incinerate and fire storm to do the same damage.

I don't use incinerate.
What about your other skills?

Energy Shield?

At level 87 these are mine:
Fire bolt: 20
Energy Shield: 19
Cloak of Fire: 20
Ice shards: 15
Fire lure: 10
Ice Lure: 4

Mihindu's build is just about as good as a conventional dps leveling mage is going to get at his level. Good work.

once you get higher drop incinerate and use mihindu's build.

You could drop incinerate now and try 11 shards 4 ice lure. That will also set you up for the future. you can bring incinerate back once you get more points. Also you may want to drop your bolt and cloak by a few points.

Yeah that'd be good, but im mainly a group mage, so when we're killing bosses, i need firestorm to get rid of other mobs nearby. I'm taking a few points out of incinerate and sacri and putting them into lures and cloak. Oh, could u put ur name lvl and world in ur sig so we know who u r

I'm off to get a book and try this! I'm not unhappy given my stats as I can take on 3* mobs up to lvl 77 while I'm on the cusp of 72, but anything to make my toon a more efficient killing machine. I at my rope's end with non mages telling me my job is to support them. Ugh, I got to fight that to the bitter end.

I've seen movies. Spell casters are second to no one.
