Re: Sick and tired of Mages being so weak

I played warrior in update 1 untill I got to lvl 57 which was super high back in the day:)
And then I got bored of the endless grinding to find a lvl 50 Skelton to get 1-5 measly xp
So I made a Mage got to lvl 43
And then I made a ranger got to lvl 42
And so on except Druid and rouge for to 30-40
Then when update 2 came out I lvles my warrior to 87 no elixers but I got bored
So I went to my ranger got to 72 then I was sick of it so I went to my Mage:) and there I stayed:)
So basically I've been playing Mage scince forever lol and my favorite time for Mage was update 1 when lures coul take there defence to the negatives and you could do ultimate damage( provided u spend points on lures) I think doing this should be looked into doing again because it would reward mages if they were able to knock down past 300.
You know it would be a simple fix to all the Mage issues
Zagic lvl 185 mage
Zhealer lvl 100 druid
Zrute lvl 94 warrior
Zologolas lvl 82 ranger
Zhief lvl 57 rouge
clan Wolfgang

Heya Frostie-

I think the Mage class is extremely well thought out. I just don't think it does what most people expect when they start playing a Mage. I also feel that OTM is more or less the most responsive game company I have ever seen. Maybe they don't always get it right, or maybe they sometimes have a different vision than voiced in player complaints, but can't be said they are not responsive. I also feel they are really innovative in a variety of ways. Completely different kettle of fish than GL.

Hope your well. Is your Druid on Arawn?
I disagree. I believe Mage is very flexible but not well thought out. I do not believe OTM consciously made the Mage what it is today. We have however had some engenious adaptations to our circumstances.

Fact is we are the slowest leveling class and the most expensive to make functional.

This would be perfectly acceptable if there came a point when we become over powered. Then I would not mind all the months of eating rogue and warrior leftovers if I knew I would eventually wipe the floor with all of them.

+1
I also wouldn't mind the grind if the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train.

Glan! Good to see you! I've had a busy summer and fall is proving to be just as busy, but I'm looking to casually get in the game when I can. That being said, the druid I'm playing is one I started eons ago. I didn't put much thought into the name...Aida. Frostine and Aida are indeed the same person. A lot of people have been wondering who my 'main' is so I hope that brings some resolve. On another note, I do believe there is someone else named 'frostie'. I don't know who that person is but I do hope to meet them in game someday. People seem to confuse me with this person who differs by one missing letter.

On another note, I don't find mage to be impossible to play or entirely terrible. It's just that some beta testers REALLY hyped up the class pre Otherworld release. Some of our expectations were led astray. The energy costs being the biggest buzzkill. I do know that I purchased a boatload of sigils for my mage. The current build she has works well with a focus and ammy. I figured since my warding and other like abilities were rather low it wouldn't hurt to lvl my druid. I figure eventually I can always go back. I do miss that fire cloak and it is my best geared character. Several months ago I only had a few of the pages for the new skills so I'm sure things HAVE to improve once the new skills are acquired. Do people really find mages to be weak once they have acquired the new skills? Are they getting grouped for boss kills and training? I mean, if mages are being sought out for groups and have these nice new skills they must be fulfilling some sort of good purpose...

And Caliban...are you the same caliban from Legion of Whispering Islands? It sure sounds like you...good to see you glad you're having fun:)

Re new spells, the old ones are better. There are some interesting builds people have come up with but all in all mages are still the most difficult to level.

If Mages are truly meant to be a support class, then a Mage should be able to target another player and cast Energy Shield on them.

If mages are truly meant to be dps, then they should be able to deal 3 times the damage of a warrior and twice the damage of a rogue or ranger. After all, they have 1/3 the armor of a warrior and 1/2 the armor of a rogue or ranger with same-tier gear.

Good point Papi. I am used to mages being the hardest to level, but there is always a pay off. I don't see the pay off here and don't know that there is one. I would like to see what an Aggy gear equipped ice Mage looked like though.
I currently have highest mage skills hit of 2980. It was an ice shards hit on the 150 Obelisk when I was level 150 with maxed ice skill. I have ice shards and ice lure maxed at 35/35. I was not using ice lure to take down the obelisk as it has no resists.

Gear:
Diamond chest, legs, gloves, boots
Golden Crown of Wizardry
Master's Grimoire - Offhand
Void Grimoire of Frost - Main Hand (Aggy Drop - I won the lottery on Epona!)
Heroic Ammy
Two Royal Wyrm Bracelets (15 focus each)
Grand Snow ring
Royal shards ring
Grand shards ring
Fabled shards ring

Still waiting on Aggy to give me various Dragon shards rings and Icemage's Bracelet of Focus but it's not realistic or ideal to obtain all of these items for most players, or even me for that matter as a means to become a viable ice mage.
Cheers!
Kasha 222 Mage - Full EDL
Sylk 215 Rogue
Saffrron 220 Druid
Wasabii 191 Ranger
Paprikash 140 Warrior
DL Crown drop rate is a horrible joke STILL!

Thank you. Makes it pretty clear.

I can't complain about that now can I?

After reading the next post I'm back to complaining.
