Re: What it means for the low levels to be helped by higher

This is my first post here, so hi!

Being helped out by higher level players is about as great as this game can get, I've met some truly awesome people who are always willing to assist the lower levels.

I do the same with those lower than myself, I'm level 55 currently.

I've also met some real jerks from some of the large, well established clans that seem to be all high level members who seem to get off on making fun of lower levels, trying to get them killed when they just want to participate in a boss kill. I for one like to participate even though I know there isn't a snowball's chance that I'll actually do the killing or get the drop.

I think some of the snobbier players need to remember that they were noobs once upon a time too, and this is just a game. Getting your jollies by bringing others down is pretty stupid.

Most of us remember the time in the game when we were first allowed in boss fights. It is an exciting time to be a player looking for the smallest upgrade in gear and hoping for the 1000g that might drop.

I try to help low level players all the time. Many of the smaller clans on our server don't have high lvl druids for there boss fights and I tell them all they can ask for my help. Of course I don't always have time to help but when I do they are always thankful.

Enjoy the game!

Just wanted to point out the Second post by Rouge on this thread he started.
I'm posting this because so many high levels reject friend requests for no reason, and then normally end up blocking that person. I'm just saying from my own experience, it feels amazing to have an awesome high level friends. (moomoo, Betty, pr1est, adreno, aggragoth, Magic68, and many more. Thanks for helping me with whatever i need when you aren't busy :D )
Well, I'm talking about like ig you're good friends, then send that person a friend request. They reject and your like ??? And then he says, I don't like you anymore, then procedes to block you.
I think most of the responders missed the 2nd post, esp the section in Red. This sounds more like a confusion of what the term Friend should mean, in general, LOL.

Not that I actually get a lot of them, but I think I'm at 5 and 0 for helping people when they Ask it of me. Everything from helping kill those black robes for the Docks quests when the guy asking for help was actually higher than me lol, to running in to get aggro in the fairy pit so someone can try to get the 6th key guy in there.

But so far, I'm also about 1 and 100000 for declining any requests that was not preceded by a conversation first (that 1 was on my first night when I stupidly accepted an invite to a clan without actually even talking to the one who invited me).

Yeah I agree I don't usually accept friend requests if I am not talking to or grouping with you. Also if it is a low level and they spam me or ask me to give them things I definitely block them.

I have a theory about this. In educational theory there is distinction made between people born before and after 1988 in so called 'first world' economies. People born after 1988 are considered 'digital natives'. People born before, 'digital immigrants'. This does not mean that the immigrants are not tech savvy. It has to do with assumptions and the cultural expression of self and community via technology, social media, etc.

It might be the case for digital natives that what you do is 'friend' someone and go from there. Whereas for digital immigrants, loosely speaking, perhaps you want some expression of 'friendship' that is an analog for real life, on the basis of which one then might 'friend' someone.

Just a theory. Not 'true'.
