Public weekly Advocate meetings at the Tavern

#1
Advocate will now hold a voluntary open forum meeting every thursday night and saturday morning. This is to discuss issues that have come up in the clan and game. People outside the clan are welcome to come and listen (chat will be in "say") and contribute and bring up issues if they like. Private issues and disputes will be discussed in group chat.

I will try to post an agenda 2 days before the weekly meeting (tuesdays) here on this topic or in a new topic in the beleneus forum. I will come with no more than 3 orders of buisness and up to two more can be discussed if time permits. Please let me know of what you think we should discuss so I can include it on the agenda.

Each meeting will begin with a short recap (under 5 minutes) of last meeting. Each topic will be discussed for no more than 7 minutes, with a 3 minute break between each topic for rest, chatting, bathroom break, ect. The meeting should last around 30 minutes, up to 35 minutes maximum.

No one is required to come, I may miss a meeting here and there as well. Feel free to come and go as you like, be late, leave early, ect. Hopefully this will be a time that we can look forward to attending and discuss concerns and how to improve the clan, our relations with other clans, and improve the server to be more friendly to new players and retain them more (create an environment where people have fun and want to stay instead of quit).

Anything that we didn't get to cover will get addressed in the saturday meeting. The saturday meeting will be more informal, with a 30 minute time limit and no set times for topics. It will begin with a recap of the thursday meeting and we will talk about those points some more and general discussion.

Thursday night
MST UTC-7 9:00-9:30 pm

Saturday morning
MST UST-7 9:00-9:30 am

Let me know if you need help figuring out what time the meeting will be in your time zone. I picked one on the weekdays and one on the weekends, as well as one at night and one in the morning so hopefully everyone who wants to attend, can.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

For thursday september 20th at 9:00 pm mountain standard time.
A followup for those who can't make it will be saturday september 22nd at 9:00 am mst.
This weeks agenda so far: (topics were proposed entirely by Roulette, and I agreed)

1. borrowing large sums of money and repayment.

The main point I will make is that you shouldn't lend anything you don't intend to loose. So when you let someone borrow something, don't expect to get it back, ever. If they do return it, be happy. Therefore you probably don't want to lend large sums of money. If the person keeps asking and pressuring, see #3, begging.

However, not returning something that was expressly borrowed is considered scamming and is grounds for discipline in-clan. This discipline takes the form of demotion, temp kick, and indefinite kick. An indefinite kick isn't forever, but untill the person is willing to make things right.

2. unwarranted kicking of members and new strategy to prevent it.

We have been having trouble with guardians kicking members out of anger. The point of leadership is to lovingly discipline so not only the offended party gets justice, but also so the offender is helped to change for the better. Kicking someone out of anger does not accomplish this goal.

Therefore there is no longer a level based promotion and many people are bieng demoted from guardian or general positions for the time bieng. Not to worry since when you have proven yourself selfless in disciplining others, never consider scamming, and helpful to others, you will be promoted.

3. begging, and how to go about it correctly.

If you are in a group and an item you needs drops you can politely whisper the person asking if you can have or buy the item. If they respond no, respect their decision and don't ask again.

The problem with begging is people tend to ask over and over until the person says yes. This is not ok, and if it comes to our attention could mean a demotion or even kick if it is serious enough.

That are te ussues I am going to bring up in the meetingthis thursday at the tavern. Please come with oter things to talk about if you want and we may have a maximum of 2 more if time permits.

Like I said before everyone on the server is welcome, each issue will have a 7 minute time limit, and personal disputes can be discussed in group chat before or after the meeting.

Alright, the meeting was a huge success! Thanks for coming, over 20 people showed up from 3+ clans.

We talked about all the previous points plus ksing and disciplinary actions on each of the topics.

Basically the disciplinary method is the same for anything depending on the severity. First is demotion, second is temp kick, third is extended kick, and fourth is indefinite kick. An indefinite kick is a kick that only ends when the person makes things right.

Thanks to everyone who contributed! We also had a buch of fun ordering drinks at the bar between topics

The next meeting is saturday at 9 am for everyone who wanted to come to the thursday but couldn't. That meeting is going to be more informal, just reviewing what happened during the thursday meeting and discussing things.

We also are thinking about moving the thursday meetings to 8 pm instead of 9 MST so let me know if that doesn't work for you.

Just two things I'd like to add.
First is the thursday meeting, whether it's 8 pm MST or 9 pm is pretty tough to attend to for us europeans (8 pm MST = 4 am here^^)
But no need to change times for us, saturdays works great. Just saying you probably won't see much of us on thursday^^

Second is I noticed that some of (lower lvl) members aren't really aware of our rules, especially about drops. I just witnessed two attempts at bullying/demanding drops - prevented one and solved the other - both from somewhat long-time members, who actually should know better. This makes me think that we should probably adress this more. I somehow have the impressions that certain people bully behind our backs.

Excellent catch Daruma,

Funny you should mention it, this upcoming meeting I was thinking of going over some basic (yet complex) rules that Advocate follows. I will make a new post.
