Proposed new rules for Ancients and Phoenix

#1
Below are some proposed new rules for Ancients and Phoenix
Modified Novermber 3rd.

We are tweaking the membership rules to hopefully alleviate some of the issues we have been having.

Membership
1. New level limit is 100 again for people in general. This does not affect current members who may be lower than that. They can stay. Alts can be any level.
2. Guardians and Generals can invite a lower level character if they know that character and are comfortable that the character will be a good addition to the clan. Basically, only someone who is vouched for by an officer will be in the clan.
3. there is no longer a rule number 3
4. Officers (guardians, generals, chief) are not created as a reward. We have a limited number and it will remain that way. We have enough to keep the clan running.
5. If you choose to leave the clan, that is fine. Your actions once outside the clan may influence whether you are allowed back in. If you leave the clan, do not expect to ever become an officer. Loyalty is important.
6. If you have a problem, talk to an officer.
7. Not sure what, if anything, will happen to phoenix.
Etiquette
1. No begging or whining (whether for drops or to get into groups or anything) – clan chat should be pleasant.
2. Keep clan chat clean, there are kids playing
3. While it is OK to ask clan for stuff (or to sell stuff) – do not spam the clan chat with BUYING or SELLING
4. Our clan will have hugely varying levels – from 60 (and under for some alts) to 145+. Just because you are in the clan does not mean you can expect someone much higher level to always help you. Don’t ask someone 20 or 30 levels higher than you to level with you in the OW. You will generally level just as quickly in level appropriate areas of Stonevale. In general, for leveling, group with people within 10 levels of you.
Bosses
1. if you spot a boss, our general policy is to group on you for the battle. Please indicate which boss it is - don’t just say Ironspike – say Ironspike Boss, ironspike 5, ironspike lackey, etc. That way people know what they are grouping for.
2. The appropriate level for a boss is to be no more than 10 levels lower than the boss. We are willing to make an exception if you spotted the boss. Other than the spotter, if the higher levels want you to leave cause you are too low level, please do so. You can help with adds, and you will have plenty of boss kills as you level up. Remember, the high levels have to spend money on idols and resto pots to do these bosses, the more high levels in the group, the cheaper the fight – so please don’t expect one or two high levels to carry a bunch of low levels through a fight.
3. We are likely to become a relatively large clan – this means that occasionally there may be two or more groups that show up to a boss fight (especially falgren/deadroot). Sometimes those multiple groups may all be ancients or mixed. It is likely to be chaos. Please do not whine about how other clanmates ksed you, or that you attacked first. It will be chaos and one group will win. Sometimes you will be in the winning group, sometimes in the losing. If you can’t be a good sport about it, this is not the clan for you.
4. We accept and encourage mixed clan groups. Do not deny someone membership in a group just because they are not Ancient. We have a decent reputation, lets keep it that way.
5. Our clan does not KS bosses.
6. If you KS someone on a regular mob (or are ksed), apologize and move on. Most of the time it is accidental.

One note about KSing or Helping:

Do not help another person or group directly without asking first. They will not know your are helping, and even if you try to, if you are not careful, you could KS by accident. if you respond to a call for a boss (say Spirehoof) and you get there to see another group fighting do not start fighting. You have two choices (assuming you cant combine groups) - help them or watch to see if they crash and you can take the kill.

1. if you choose to help them, do so indirectly - put on buffs (poison weapon, bark, etc), heal them, cloak of fire or def spikes.
2. take care of adds
3. do not attack the boss directly. Once the boss is CLEARLY past halfway, you may ask them if they would like some help to finish the boss - most ppl with say yes and thanks, at which point, go to town.

Selling Stuff:
please don't spam clan chat with SELLING... - please use the following thread: http://www.onethumbmobile.com/celticher ... 22&t=18181

Drops and Helping clanmates
If your plan is to get drops and sell them at high prices – this is NOT the clan for you.
When you get quest drops you cannot use, please offer them to the clan first. We want to strengthen our clan. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing that a clanmate sold something you needed to someone else. The one exception is if someone in the group you got the drop with needs that drop – then you can feel free to sell it. Or if you owe someone.
Low level people should be responsive to constructive criticism from high level players. There are many things you can do to make yourself more effective in a group. From knowing that poison weapon should be cast on rangers (who have rapid fire) to knowing where to stand so you don’t interfere with targeting of others. I learned a lot from higher level players when I first joined.

thanks

Ok I understand we wanna grow a bigger stronger clan but we will only grow bigger not stronger with allowing so many lower lvls in. I would like for any member who is in acients befor rule change to think about the fact we all worked hard to get into clan and by allowing these lower lvls to join is like a slap in the face nothing towards sam or akbar for the new rules. But I feel atleast raise limit to 70 or 75 do to the fact that if u can not lvl to 70 to 75 then y play i have 3 alts i have to lvl 45 to 55 which the longest i spent lvl was 4 hours so. But this is not my choice i am just posting my opinion considering we was only 90+ clan

Thank you for your thoughts. This is something we have thought about. I understand how you might feel dismayed at having worked hard, and new people can get in early. I would argue that just because someone had it hard doesnt mean everyone needs to. We can improve and grow.

Also, i would point out something subtle but important. It is not just being level 60. it is being at least 60 and the approval of the clan. Some noob that no one knows will not get in. But someone who is nice and we like will get in. We are free to decline someone who wants to get it. it is not automatic. also, i included an etiquette section so that ppl know they can get kicked if they are annoying or dont play well.

Also, and this is the teacher in me, getting someone early allows us to teach them early how to behave and improve. Those of you who have had a higher level take an interest in you and help you out occasionally, know exactly how nice a mentor can be.

As for alts, i think it is good that they can stay in contact with the clan, regardless of what toon they are playing.

I hope this addresses your concerns.

well ak pretty much explained it all, let me just tell you the way i see it.

If for instance someone who is too low to join ancients, and every other clan rejects him/her forever due to mistakes he/she made in the past, but changed afterwards and people still see them as wht they use to be, then they will stay as how they are and how they are repped and basiclly WE as a cominuty created them to be e.g. Ksers, spammers, abusive etc.. However this isn't always the case but it is most times. As a long YEAR member and now chieftain of Ancients i have seen us change and make people understand into a better player. But however this doesn't mean we let 'A scammer, a KSER a racist, a Rapist (WHATEVER) inside, we try help people who don't understand what they are doing, some people who ask for bosses 20-40 lvls above them is an example.
The level you should have a better understanding of is at 60, i believe it is easier for newcomers to learn and grow into a better player at that stage. If we made the level req 70-75 (in lower lvls case) this is seen as very high (consider MOST do not have regans or platnium). Therefore will not approve of that requirement, it's just back a while ago that wouldn't have been the case, but nowa days it's more complicated and so many people acutully play on lugh now, so it's only natrul for us the elderly to teach the youths of Lugh of how to become a succesful and accepted player.

(P.S. Thoro thanks for your oppnion, I hope you understand what me and Akbar are acutully trying to do with this, we aren't just doing this for people's level, we want a community of decccent players. It is at the momment a bit crazy because some players are new to big clans, they are excited. Just give it a day or two and they should be relaxed and settled in 8D)

Ok sam akbar i am not trying to make this into a bad thing which in truth i still seek guidance from u all and i understand what u r trying to achieve in the long run. Which i have agreed to try change and be positive but in just the time u all was inviting people to clan i was spammed with request for free times now i dont care to give items and help out but we are going to have to lay down better boss and item rules like say with deadroot adding say lvl 80+ is acceptable or rockbelly now other bosses is a Lil better something within the amount of them doing some damage. But if this works out then i will be happy i am trying to be nice to all lower lvls being as i do know how it feels to be lower lvl but my goal when i was lower lvl was to reach lvl 80 so i could join acients. Now that i have achieved my goal i have set new goals for myself in game and i would hope all lower lvls will do the same!!!! But I will do my best with helping clan members but i will not be bothered with begging

Hey Guys,
Firstly let me say that I am proud to be a member of Ancients. Up until the point when I joined this clan, I had been a member of one other clan only, which in hindsight seems to have been a “vanity” clan. After a week or so, I left as I have no desire to be bolstering somebody’s ego.
As such, I am still finding my way around how the clan system works. I’d like to think that I have not annoyed anyone (certainly, nobody has said anything to me) and hope that continues to be the case, as well as being able to contribute to the workings of our clan.
Something that impressed me an awful lot as a lower level player, were the occasions on which you would see a clan kill of a boss. All of those players with “Ancients” above their heads, all of them at such an amazing level. The reputation of the clan, the fact that so many of the clan would freely give time and advice to lower level players just made me think “That is where I want to be”. After I joined Ancients, this came back to me when other players made pretty much the same comment to me.
I fully agree with both Sam and Akbar’s reasoning with regard to allowing lower level players join the clan whilst at the same time sympathising with the sentiment voiced by Thoro relating to the earlier level requirement.
As a clan, we will no longer have that “high level exclusivity”, (this is in no way a criticism towards that decision) so I would offer the opinion that in order to distinguish ourselves within our chosen area of play, one thing that we should be doing is REALLY raising the game in terms of etiquette.
May I suggest that we remember that not only is it a requirement to keep clan chat clean, but also ALL other chat? How often in the last week have you observed people shouting obscenities? Think about what you are allowing other people to read, after all you have no idea who is observing.
My only concern is that “Ancients” will stop having the reputation that we currently seem to have. I fully agree that if we wish to become stronger as a clan then we do need to make some sort of change to the existing system. I would, however, argue that if we wish to become truly great then pure “strength” is not enough. We need to raise our level (sic) of game-play to the point where we cannot be criticised or accused of wrongdoing (fairly or unfairly). Obviously people will always make accusations, sometimes with foundation, sometimes with none, but let’s do our very best to give them no ammunition to fire in the first place.
With regard to a comment that Thoro made in his last post, I think maybe that our newer members may wish to consider waiting for a short period of time (and I don’t mean ten minutes) before asking whether another member has “X”, “Y” or “Z” items for sale. Think about it from the existing members’ point of view,
“You’ve just joined, you are already asking for stuff. Why did you join??”
I’m not saying that this is the case but it can rather come across like that. I certainly felt a little like that last night, I have to be honest. I can, however, fully appreciate the excitement of being accepted into a clan like this. It’s not so long since I felt it myself! I simply feel that maybe the newer members, who possibly aren’t familiar with the clan, should give themselves a little time to settle in and become known before requesting items.
Sam and Akbar, you have my full support in this (for what it’s worth) and I hope that all clan members, new and old will work together, in harmony, to make Ancients the clan that every player aspires to become a member of.
Thanks for reading such a long post and hopefully some of it makes sense.
P.S. Thanks to Sam for inspiration for the username ;-)
