Regular Mobs: Why they Should Drop Rare Items

#1
I know this has been braught up partialy before but I would like to adress this idea one more time. Wouldnt you like to have regular mobs drop really rare gear whether it be an amulet or a helmet? Wyverns already drop bracelets that are semi worth grinding for but every mobs drops items to sell to vendors. Like have trees drop some sort of health ring (rare) for example.

In other (and im not trying to compare) MMOs, high leveled players go back and grind on mobs slightly lower than them for rare and useful drops. Im suggesting this idea because I like it and is an element which can be added to this game. With the new area coming out, there will be more mobs for everyone! I disagree with changing loot tables too much. Maybe consider this idea for future mobs!

What do you guys think? Why do rare mobs only drop rare items? Theres competion in the area when rares spawn like that and not to mention that just knowing you wont get anything for your next kill can discourage someone. The idea that you may get something for your next kill can promote grinding since there is a lack of content at the moment and excite everyone!

I would disagree on this. Most mobs already drop random rare stuff like rings. Crystal and Ancient rings are your answers to the notion of rare stuff dropped by normal mobs in OW. Problem is that with recent changes to drop table where rings are guaranteed to drop and higher spawn rates of bosses, people are simply bypassing these loot and they now become practically worthless.

The rare-r stuff are by rarer monsters or sub-bosses has chance of good bracelets. I like how the current drop rate of the Imperial and Godly stuff are kept really low, as it should be. There's no point in everyone being Godly. It will yet again make the game so much less challenging.

This game really needs some player differentiation, especially with grand / royal rings dropping like cupcakes now. The grinding matter should be looked at, based on optimisation of experience, and have more areas with mobs with grind or even shorter spawn time for regular mobs.

I think common mobs should have common drops. It would be contradictory if the common mobs dropped "rare" loot. If every low level noob got rare drops off common mobs, it wouldn't exactly be rare anymore.

On the other hand, the loot tables for rare mobs should definitely have common drops taken out of the equation. No rare mob should drop common loot. It's such a lame letdown. The rare Baobahn Sidhe (?) in Stonevale used to drop rare daggers or rare gems. Now it drops the same generic pages you can get from a Dreamsong or Frostroot Druid.

Im talking about rare drops being rare. What are the chances a rare mob will spawn and what are the chances is will drop a rare item? Transfer that rarity to regular mobs so you always know you just might get it even though the odds are extremely low.

Those rings were never something i looked forward to.

In LOTR:O, they used to have class armor (comparable to the warden gear here, but tradable) drop off boss mobs (that needs a group of 6 - 24)at something like 100% (there's a Lot of possible drops tho so its not like you can get a full set in one fight), and then regular but tough mobs (think 3 stars and above) can drop them too, but at like .1% lol. But that possibility, even Slim, excited people :)

Mixed feelings here.

I would like to see itemization in all zones that noobs and higher lvls alike could use. I would like to see weapons that drop in OW not barely be usable for players in SV, or totally impossible with high lvl restrictions. Common drops in the game suck, they give you nothing and they rarely can be used by anything other than a noob.

One possible reason for this is the lux shop. If cool things dropped, OTM wouldn't be able to make more profit from gold sales etc tied toward new lux items... Not saying this is certain but it is a contributing factor to the business model.

What I DON'T wanna see from this suggestion however is campers. People(higher lvls) camping & destroying specific leveling spots 90's, 100's, 105's etc because they want some rare heal ring, either to sell it or to have it. I could ***easily*** see bored 152+ players waiting for the game content to increase just deforesting the Tree pop to nab a ring when lvl 110-115 grps were trying to kill oaks.

There is a good thing about clairvoyant itemization, few foreign players in yer lvling Zones.
