Rogues have the problem of high damage, they die fast, mages have high damage, they use energy fast, rogues use idols, mages use restoration pots? Problem solved.
Wow, I have to admit, that's a really nice comparison but its not entirely correct. First of all, mages like me would end up using 10 restoration potions in the same time period that a rogue may use ONE idol. Second, during boss fights a tank is there so a rogue can dps away without fear of being attacked. During this time a mage still has to use many restoration potions. And idols bring you back to life with full health but not energy which is yet another thing that I forgot to mention.
Maybe, but take all of my posts into account, Less energy usage from the less rings, more energy regen from energy boost along with pots like rogues have to use idols.

Now, let' take a Ignus boss fight, Lava damage, quake area damage and a fire shield, i personally have to wait for timers to go down before i can respawn most of the time, and a mage doesn't take any of the fire shield damage since they use skills, they also aren't affected by quake like a rogue, so a rogue would probably use more idols than a mage would use pots unless the mage is filled with damage rings and not using energy boost; Rogues may also have to use pots to keep their health up (Like me).
I usually am affected by area damage and lava damage gets to me as well. Fire shield is pretty devastating but if you have a druid or two with nature's breath than you shouldn't have much trouble. If the boss comes at you and you die then the next highest dps dealer, which may be me, would be attacked and I will have used an idol just as you have and also continuous restoration potions for energy.

I'm not suggesting a huge change, just take out your weakest ice ring for a royal energy boost ring which wouldn't significantly lower the damage, but would help sustain the energy usage.
Each skill point in energy boost yields 3 points of energy. Maxed (30/30) energy boost gives me 85 per tick. So if I do manage to actually find a royal ring of energy boost, I would only gain 15 more regen which would bring the spell to 100 per tick. I agree its better than nothing but its still not enough.

Anyone else want to take their turn arguing? I'm starting to get tired. :lol:

All that vraelen does is complain. Yea they run out of energy, but so do I, I can only use sneaky and assass once or twice during a fight and I'm out of energy. Maybe vraelen should learn how to conserve energy by only using choice skills, as I do.

All that vraelen does is complain. Yea they run out of energy, but so do I, I can only use sneaky and assass once or twice during a fight and I'm out of energy. Maybe vraelen should learn how to conserve energy by only using choice skills, as I do.
*sigh I am ONLY a spell caster with NO melee so there is really no 'choice' when choosing spells. Of course only rogues would comment on this because such noobs like ice here wouldn't want me to actually become good and not just remain as a sucky mage. Lol jk ice:) We're cool 8-)

Try switching up your damage rings for energy boost and sacrifice
Unless its store bought, a lot of equipment is hard to come by.

Yes I have 600 sigils on health and energy with 30 second regen time. No waiting between attacks.
I used to be a big buyer of pots and elix. They really help. Not buying plat anymore because this mage stuff has soured me.
Hmm, yes a suggestion that will work but then damage will take a dive. To bring my spells down to a level that will allow energy regen to actually help would also lower my normal damage to a point where its not worth it.
Yes there's seem to be four classes of mages. Melee vs Support Vs Regen Vs Spell Attack.

Melee mage requires all the right equipment with high + damage. You can add regen skills because all your attack is based on h2h.

Support mage is lure based. For lures to be effective they need to be maxed. No extra points for attack.

Regen mage. I have to sacrifice (get it sacrifice :-) no pun intended) my attack skills so i can regen faster. There's also a difference between non-combat regen and combat regen. Mages need faster combat regen.

Spell attack mage. For maximum firepower lures are maxed and ice shards and firebolt are maxed. No other points for regen.

FYI, I know Robert and he's a stand up fellow. So we can cut him some slack please :)

Sorry Ice, you have no clue.

At least you can fall back on your main and offhand weapons. What do we have for weapons. CRAP.
Does your main rogue dagger or whatever hit for 30? The description says 30 but in actuality it hits 15.

Also you have armor. We don't!!

Try that buddy. So no energy , no weapons. = DEAD MAGE.

Wow admin locked up my post .... So a ton noob post are ok sigh np ima bring it here i understand you guys are VERY busy i will do it ...

Ok when we all set foot in ow all classes were ok .Then rings were gatherd which made a energy problem .Not much eliments came from update 2 .When it all went down hill ... The day huge amout of eliments damage types came out (ALL ROUGES started trippin WHY only scavenger for mages/druids cuz of hire /ice / magic ....(but its for warriors ,rouges ,rangers ) it was something new to the players ....But they cryed out an new dagger from dev team .... Lucky .So then eliments supported every class exept mages/druids slap in face .... Later on we found lava field yey! And mages get slap in face again!!! The field kills us doesn't let us regain energy mages screwd ....hmmm how much it hurts other classes 30 ish fire damage thats all pretty fair .... So if you wanna play mage in lava field and do ok damage you will have to buy sigils .Ok summer event YEY dragons mages and druids slap in face again! Huge amout of eliments damages that only good for rangers warriors and rouges !all mages getting are little tweaks like one per 3 month ... Did it help NO! Play your mage more another 3 months did it help yea like 2% better but now every other class benifits of eliments damages NEED ANOTHER TWEEK sigh wait another 3 months .Ok we added few items to help mages/druids in agg loot ... Ok .... .Now other classes tripin and its not even enough to fix mages ...now for mages to keep up they lower there regains ... But other classes got crazy eliments damages which boosted there damage way up AND lower there energy usage cuz they droped skill rings means less energy how sweet .Poor mages trying to keep up so we BUY EVEN MORE SUGILS drop all regains ! Still lose to a 10 lvl lower rouge without regains how fair ...

I don't want to be a class that has to be tuned EVERY PATCH, if OTM over tuned them then probly be a trade off but the aways under tune them ... 20% better this patch how is it DIDNT HELP ... Ok little fix next patch wait another 3 months ...
And side note you guys are tuning them basted off 100 mage players thats have a ton of sigils THATS WAY WRONG!!
So any new mages will fall in the same %#@& hole buying sigils just to be a wanted class

So what will fix most of the problems MAKE ELIMENTS damage BENIFIT mages if we want to go support we put on dismond gear if we want to go dps we put on rings /gear /necklace with eliments damage
FIX YOUR GAME stop with haloween patch and fix your broken game simpley tuning mages every update will just make a huger hole that later on harder to fix .Its like recode 1/2 the game and OTM rather just tune mages .JUST RECODE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM why add stuff when game having problems stop adding things work on problems
How will eliments damage remove the mage problems ... We won't have to BUY alot sigils to do ok damage
swap skill rings with 40 fire damage rings lowers our skills more points to use on lure and stuff so fixes energy usage
In the end makes mages like rest of the classes

Ps OTM do you own testing mage a mage 140 without sigils try him out ...and have your own solid tests plus our feed backs whoukd help alot cuz now our friend papi is tuned like a mage with ton sigils ....
