Re: Will today's patch make mages happy ?

TBH

As a druid, I am happy for the mages but I am also jealous and worried.

Jealous that mages got a huge energy reduction. (Small issue really for me)

Worried that casters gloves will now never appear due to the 20% cast reduction boost for mages. (Big issue for me  )

It seems like we can call this the Mage patch, but will this make high level mages happy ? I doubt it. Mages want to out dps rogues and rangers and forgo the support roll that otm has put them in .
Yeah, as a high level-ish Mage, it makes me happy. Also, I think if you'll look through all of the complaints the main one has to do with energy issues and not with dps. So yeah, again, I think most Mage will be happy.

All I ask for is a level playing field and not feel useless.
Where are you getting 'not feel useless' from? All other classes (especially rogues and rangers) have clearly stated that they love mages. Mages are very important and I fear with this new patch, they may become more solo-orientated and work less for the team which will be a shame. It seems a Mage that enjoys a support role is a real keeper these days :)

Mages arn't far off having most DPS in skills with cloak of fire, ice shards, fire ball, incinerate and firestorm Lol. Possibly the only ones that beat them are rogues (and even that is very close).

I guess maybe mages should have best overall skill damage, but that is a big maybe, considering mages can be (don't have to be) insane support. It's like making warriors great DPSers and insane tankers, or Druids great DPSers and insane healers. All classes have a primary roll except rangers (which are 2nd best at everything, adding up to a complete all-around class). Mages primary role is currently energy healing, luring and cloaking, Warriors primary role is currently tanking, Druids primary role is currently healing and rogues primary role is what? Doing damage? Take that away from a rogue and the class turns to dust :? No secondary role of a class, should be as great as the primary role of another. That is when a class will fall.

But yeah, mages wanting to be dps and not support is like Druids wanting to be dps and not healers.. Only thing is Druids accept their role :)

By the way, (I believe it was you saying you feel useless when your team are wasting idols etc and all you're doing is stood casting lures), going dps is not a team-build for a Mage, it is more of a solo 'self-orientated build'. A support Mage truly is a team-build and benefits your clan so much more than a dps Mage :)

I believe it has been generally agreeded and mentioned in several topics that mages in terms og total damage per second will always lose out to melee classes, I am not sure whether this is a ton but there is a a general ton of distance to be covered. Simply put, thanks to *Melee* event held in Summer. Melee classes (Auto dmg + Skill dmg) will always out dps Mage (Skill dmg). Mages arent asking to be super mages with serious dps. But it gets very depressing when mages even lose out to warriors thanks to 800 auto dmg.

In terms of primary roles, you also have to remember energy healing in terms and especially luring was only introducted with this update. Pre update, no one has perceived mages as support role apart from their one support skill - Cloak. So its not really fair to directly pin point Mages primarly role is for support.
