Re: Book or Trident

What offhand should i get? The Master's Book or Golden Trident? If i do get the trident, what kind (ice, fire, or magic)?
100% depends on one thing... you

If you're a group levelling/bossing druid who never solos and only ever lvls with 100+ clannies so never does any melle damage to the mobs... choose a book

If you're a solo DPS, or even a leveling DPS build, then a trident is probably better. Some people go hand to hand and use a Golden blade (can also be good for a hybrid build)

Personally, I went for book first, but this was because I still had a golden bodkin I could use for lvling.

Right now, I switch between Grimore/Focus Crown for bossing, and Trident/Magic damage helm for lvling.

On tridents, I chose magic trident, because druids do magic damage, so therefore we will choose the mobs that have low resistance to magic damage. e.g the ghosts. Eventually you'll need to go ice, but not till you get to the lava fields, and for me, this is a long long way away... so magic it is for me.

But.

Like I said in my first line, it's entirely up to you and your style of play

Like savage said, it depends on your build and whether you typically solo level or group. Trident can help alot for solo dps leveling builds and if you group alot go with the book. I personally went with the book on my dps/support Druid and love it. The book still helps you out soloing with the extra dmg the bonus focus adds to your spells along with increasing your heals. I also feel with my +150 focus bonus from my book and crown I'm now able to put more points in vit for survivability. Help us out a little more by telling us about your build and play style.

James, he is a level 87 Druid. Ok first, I'm a lvl 77 and I have 134 focus (without grimmoire)
After using a rebirth book. So 10 levels appart and he has 185 focus
That's about ask much as you can get. 500 focus?? That's too much.
Not playing celtic heroes anymore
Even though I quit, nobody is getting anything.

I think you should get the Arcane Orb of Spirit :D lol its better than both, unless you would rather have some damage than a bunch of energy regen - and, furthermore, for a caster like a druid it is ideal. I know you might not be able to afford it or anything, but just saying it depends on what YOU want.

TheDarkSide, for a full support druid build like the OP (original poster), the book will be way more useful than the orb. Why? Because a full support druid can stay out of combat and meditate for the 5 point regen difference that the orb gives. The evasions and resistances that the orb give are not very useful for a support build. Also, heals and buffs, even when maxed, use a lot less energy than damage spells. As such, regen issues are rarely a problem for support druids.

I use the Mountain Shield for solo and grimoire for group fights

I never tried trident, but Golden Blade of Ice did not help with with solo leveling. With Mountain Shield, I could solo 3 stars mobs of my level between lvl 120 and 140 except Blackstone Masters. Now I just changed my skills and am using HOWLING WIND. This spell changed my game play since I now can solo Blackstone Masters.

My build is mainly Focus based (max focus, 80 vit), mi support and mi DPS. So the Mountain Shield was more adapted to my build.

Are there other druids using Mountain Shield ... ?

I might try trident one day :)
