Hi there, thanks for all the feedback. Overall it looks like this is going to be the last major event we are going to run - the event has taken a couple of man years of work in total to create and release, and since it has proven very unpopular, in future we will put the effort into updating the live game and stop running these big events.
I think you were trying too hard to make each event bigger and better than the last one. You were headed to a no-win situation. The 2011 Halloween Event was awesome. The items were not overpowering (darkflame did NOT replace warden and was mostly for fashion/novelty). The skeleton charms were great and useful (too bad only a few got them). I don't think anyone would've complained if they came back this year to be honest. Most were looking forward for the xp and firecloak charms to make a re-appearance.
There was no need to make long-winded quests. I think people liked the Potion quests. They were able to get plat items for free, and you can only get 3 per character which again isn't overpowering. I surely like it better than farming 60 bat fangs, 60 bat eyes, 60 bat wings and 40 witches brews just to get a fancy novelty weapon.
Honestly, if you just made it similar in scope as last year's Halloween event, I think it will have gotten a better reception. Events are meant to be enjoyed casually especially since it is for a limited time, no one is pressured into doing stuff every day. No farming, no grinding, no camping, no competing. Sometimes less is more.
While I fully support you just focusing on the live game and permanent content, small events would surely still be welcomed. Just don't go overboard and try to make it "epic" next time.
