From my readings and life experiences you have to keep your relationship right with God first and foremost. I tithe appropriately, and even though I feel strongly in my gut that the church is doing wrong with the money, I let them be judged by God. It is not my place, it is the faith that his plan will triumph in the end. I am in my mid 30s and my life has been blessed since I have truly turned to him. It was not always like this. I was raised a Christian always went to church as a child and thought I was doing it right. I was just going through the motions until I found out about walking with God and trusting fully in him. Now I ask what I can do for him and everything falls into place.
Good luck Marco, and may God bless.
You as well. That is noble.

Hey Marco, glad to hear that your acting on your convictions in this area. I agree the church as a whole in our nation is not what Jesus intended it to be. Just as an encouragement, don't go it alone. The Bible clearly says that lone rangers don't survive. I would recommend looking for a church that teaches the Word and will be an encouragement and help to you. Don't know anything about the churches in your area, or even where your at, but I guarantee that there are good ones out there.

Feel free to PM me about anything... Glad to see we have more important things in common than silly MMO games :)

So as many of you probably noticed from my signatures, I'm a christian. I have been one for about 7 years now. I have been going to the same church for all those years.

There are several things that I have come to dissagree with against pretty much every church I have seen.

1. They don't really help the homeless much.

2. They basically make you give them your money or "tithe"

3. They aren't open to suggestions on how to run it.

So going back to the bible I think that we should be and need to be helping the homeless more. Our goal should be to bring them up out of poverty if they are willing.

The new testament doesn't mention tithing 10% of your money to the church anywhere. I think pastors should work and support themselves for the most part and people can contribute to them if they want. This precedent is in the bible from Paul. People should be free to spend thier money to help others how they see fit. Not how the church sees fit. This precedent is also set from Jesus in a parable.

So basically taking all this into account...I don't have much option other than to start a church myself. And I'll do it the way Jesus did.

I'm just going out to downtown sunday mornings and hanging out with the homeless there, getting to know them, help them out with necessities where needed, and teach them christian principles where it comes up.

My goal bieng to make relationships with the homeless and help them get themselves out of poverty, but mostly just to fellowship and live the christian life. And have a blast.

Im excited :D
I don't really see to many fellow Christians on this forum so hey!

I'm glad that your intentions are good.
The only question i have is, if I remember correctly, didnt God command the Israelites to give the first fruits of their harvest, or blessings, in the Old Testament? Im not sure whether it is 10% or not.
But in all, be sure it is God's will, trust in Him for whatever comes your way, and may God bless you and go with you on your journey.

Ya for sure. But that was the old testament. New testament churches should be based on the NT and all giving in the NT is portrayed as optional and up to the individual.
Well, that is if the church follows the NT only.
But that doesn't mean we don't have to heed the OT. Because that is where we read about Creation, God's laws, the Psalms, the Proverbs, and the Prophecies of the Messiah.
A lot of medical principles are found hidden in the laws given to the Israelites.
