I go through phases with my mage. One week, I'll be like, "Mages are so f***ing awsome! I'm going to go and grind the s*** out of my mage" and for the rest of the month I'll be like, "Why did I even spend so much gold, plat, and time on my mage? Why is my mage so high leveled as an alternate character? WTF am I doing?"
No kidding, I have baught too many books of rebirth and books of alternation just to figure things out and try to adapt to different situations in game (like killing trees to killing golems etc). Not only that, but I have also spent quite a bit of plat on energy sigils mostly because energy boost sucked before and energy regen is important. Idols? Yeah, I baught a ton of those too but not to tank, just to do basic things.
Mages can be fun but there is a price to pay and that price comes literally out of your pocket. You know what? Forget about which is more fun and ask yourself, "Can I afford to have fun on a mage?"
If the answer is yes, move onto this question..."Do I want to constantly cast skills or do I want the ability to reliably auto attack?"
Hope this helps you decide for yourself
