Hi all my name is deathsbank ranger extraordinaire from arawn I have a few mags questions
1: what should my lure to fire bolt ratio be is maxing fire lure a waste of points for lvling?
2: I am a major play buyer if I invest in 300ish energy sigils would I be able to lower my eboost skillpoints to 1-5 instead of 10-15
3: I am a well ballenced builder for stats obviously no str is req but would dex have any impact on a mages chance for skills to hit? also how much focus is enough curently at 500 seems to b having less and less impact on my skills finaly how much vit would u recommend
Re: Switching from ranger to Mage need advice
#2Hey Deaths - Used to play with you on Arawn as Synergy the Druid, welcome to the mage class!
1) Id recommend keeping lure at half your skill cap and maxing fire bolt. So if your firebolt is 20/20 make sure lure is 10/20.
2) 300 energy sigils will easily last you until 140+ and you won't need to invest in energy boost at all.
3) For stats, dex and str are pointless. Dex doesn't impact your spell hit chance at all and the bonus to defense isnt enough to make it worthwhile. I'd recommend putting 3 in focus and 2 in vit per level for quite awhile.
Hope that helps!

Re: Switching from ranger to Mage need advice
#3Any focus above 350 returns a reduced benefit on skills, so you're fine with that. I'm in the camp advocating 50-60 pts in dex (once you have your focus at a decent level). Dodges do help let you live a bit longer. Then your next target is vit.

#4Death welcome to the Mage club.
Foc vs Vit: The big question is do you use e shield? If u do then you won't get interrupted so u don't need much Dex to help getting spells off, and it turns your energy into hp so you're Vit only has to get you to the next shield cast. One reason to avoid e shield is the wait. Your ability to move from mob to mob is limited by your waiting for e shield to recharge. A Vit build is only dependant on your sigils. So avoiding e shield will give you lower focus and thus lower dps but your mobs per min will go up. You don't need to kill things 15 levels over you. Just stay with mobs within 5 levels and do enough damage to win and let your health sigils get you from one mob to the next quickly. Melee Mage build is best for leveling fast.
You only need boost if you find yourself running out of e in a fight which will be because your fighting faster than your sigils can keep up.
Dex vs Vit: From a purely mathematical perspective your dex should be between 10% and 20% of your Vit for maximum survivability. Total survivability is maximized at 5 dex and all the other points in Vit but at 10% you only loose 2% of your effective health. at 20% you have lost 7% but you are getting interrupted less.
STR is useless for a Mage keep it at 5.

Re: Switching from ranger to Mage need advice
#5My advice to you: Go back to ranger... Seriously!
Well if you expect to go far, you better expect to spend time, gold, maybe plat, and calmness. Trust me, spending all your calmness is really easy at level 110
You are required to kill with full attention at all times and when leveling gets long and hard (mmmhmmm), you get frustrated. Also, you will find yourself restatting a lot.
Just be prepared! I went down this road when I loved being a mage. My mage is now collecting dust.

#61. Lure should be 1/2 you max. Anything more is a waste. Bolt should be maxed...it is you bread and butter quick spell.Hi all my name is deathsbank ranger extraordinaire from arawn I have a few mags questions

2. I have 325 energy sigils. I never use boost. Heck I only have 1 regen item. I never have an issue, but I will be buying more energy sigils. I just buy them a bit at a time.
3. My str and dex are both 5. My vit is 350 and my focus is at 420 (1020 with items).
