Have you tried using a different Wi-Fi connection to the one you normally use?

If you try a different connection and are able to log in to the game, that would suggest there is an issue with your Wi-Fi connection.

If there was a problem with my wi-fi I would not have been able to download or patch the game, but I did. Also I play many online games and mmo's on this ipad through the same wi-fi

Downloading and patching the game is different to connecting to the live servers on which you play.

If you can patch the game but not connect to a server, it suggests that there is an issue with your Wi-Fi in connecting to the world servers.

hmmm could be a connection issue then. maybe reset your router?

That's also my suggestion, I had this once, and I had to try to reset my router without busting it up...

I had the same problem... I got fixed by logging in and out on another wifi network.

When i returned home, the game worked on my wifi again as well!
