I might get flamed for this (although I 100% agree with OP) but, is scamming technically illegal?

Dont get me wrong, I've done xfers for over mills of items. And im known and respected in my world but if your technically giving someone your items, then how is that against the rules?

Its not the scammers fault, its your fault for tempting him. If you really need an xfer, dont go to one trusted friend only YOU know, go to someone that everyone knows, and has a lot to lose (clan leaders, high levels, etc.)

But, why does it matter? Its OTM, so its probably gonna take about a few months for em to handle it....
I will occasionly browse the forums, but for the most part im done.

If you wish to contact me, please feel free to message, as my E-mail is hooked up with the messages :D

Thank you everyone, for making this a special game.

That's the problem notso... What's to stop me stealing your gear in an Xfer? Or even stealing a couple players camo charms if I ask to borrow (and I'm sure people would lend me).

Of course i wouldn't.. But you never know who's behind a character so you never know who you can 100% trust, as displayed in the FORESTGUMP incident.

Leave te scammers alone when it comes to banning. I somewhat want to side with them when people act so ignorant and get scammed through the most stupid ways. Everyone has been warned and if it's such a simple tactic they use to scam, you deserve whatever has come to you. It's the hard way of learning but if you dot listen in te first place, how will you ever learn?

Dealing with scammers in a different way such as ksing them, not allowing them to join your clan, or blocking them is a much better way imo.

You don't kill a murderer, you put him/her in jail for a long, long time.
Yes, but if you kill a murderer he will never kill again. Same with the account traders ban them and they will stop. Warning will only go so far. My problem is not with the scammers, but the integrity loss the game has when account traders sell and trade their account to further scam with a new name. If the scammer was just one character, or that player took the time and effort to level their character to scam the player base, then I am good with that you get what you deserve. This is not the problem Dbags like romirome and the like buy a new char and use their existing goodwill to scam.

And what's to stop them from making another character once they have been banned? The point is to punish through reprocautions. Is that not logical?

IP address ban would be sufficient. As derp said. Just lock them up for life
If OTM can do that, then it's up to them. I was just sharing my view on this and the only post that changed my mind to some degree was about older players scamming kids.

I don't really care with what happens anymore. I am carefull with trades and if I get scammed, it's on me. I'm done with this thread.

We do take the act of scamming seriously, and we do understand the detrimental effect it has on players and the game.

We have several measures in place to help players against scams, such as confirmations on the trade screen and multiple messages both in-game and on the forum warning players about the dangers of scamming. That being said we still do not tolerate scamming, and we ask that players are vigilant with regards to this.

Reporting players using the in-game tool is the most effective way of dealing with a scammer. This allows the Support Team to directly investigate the individual in question and take any action as necessary. If the Support Team has evidence of multiple scams they will disable an account. However, they must be able to verify a scam for such an action to take place. Simply reporting a player for a scam will not result in an immediate disabling;

I understand that many of you are frustrated, and we will be looking into ways of improving how we deal with scammers and account traders.

However as we have said many times before, do not trade any items or gold unless you are 100% certain you wish for a trade to occur. Be careful if you wish to do a world transfer; we do not support these kinds of trades and any players who partake in them do so at their own risk.

Whilst we will strive to help players against scammers, there is also an element of responsiblity on the behalf of the players to be aware of the dangers of trading and ensuring that they take measures so they don't make the same mistake twice. Many scams can be prevented by being vigiliant, but that is down to the players.

This does not mean that scamming is acceptable. We still take a hard line on scamming, but we ask that you work with us in order to solve this problem.
