No my druid friend cast a barked shield on me and it protected me more from a fireball from a mage my protective stance helped me against ice shards

Yes they do

Ice shards has a varying hit ratio and is normally 25-50 damage difference due to elemental resists. Protective stance adds armor which does not influence damage other than pierce, crush, and slash.

OP is exactly correct. Also, a little tidbit that some warriors don't realise- enduring guard only helps with physical skill evasion. This means that it does not reduce melee damage taken. I find it funny when warriors rock up to shivercowl main and use enduring guard.
Can someone confirm if it reduces physical skill damage too, or is it just evasion?

Doesnt he do phys damage? Isnt one of his skill attacks the same icon as quick strike? Either it is or my mind has gone crazy.

It does, but that doesn't make it physical. The attack itself is a fireball.

I think youre talking about astral rays but im pretty sure it does magic damage. Not positive though.
Also im sure enduring guard just raises physical attack evasion and doesn't reduce damage.
