Hello all i was just looking through the forums and i havnt seen a single post about a spear ranger in the last few pages so i was wondering has anyone tried this build?

I've currently got a lvl 60 ranger will hero gloves, boots, ammy and Royal Mountain Shield/Golden Venom Dagger (depending on situation)Quartz bp and greaves and my main hand is Fairy Pike of Snow or the Winterking Spear (depending on which one i wanna use) and this build works quite well and im able too beat everyone at my lvl whether its a mage with full lux or not.

Levelling is quite efficient as i level with a friend same level as me with warden bow yet i still get the kill sometimes.

I have
140+str
55 dex
27 focus
100vit

All this with maxed rapid, bolas and light heal with rest into spikes

Anyone else tried this build?

Ps: why the hell does ranger armor add focus?!

I have a similar build but I started out with high dex and not str.

Str 175
Dex 300
Foc 10
Vit 100

All my points are now going to str.

The gear I use are a bloodlust, golden venom, diamond pike, heroic gloves, heroic rejuv ammy, warder bp and greaves, grand and fabled ring of spears.

For skills i have light heal, conceal, spikes and bolas all maxed. I keep rapid shot at 1 since investing points into it does not benifit as much as other skills, plus you are able to heal more easiliy without wasting rapid shot time and use less energy. I tried entangle instead of spikes but both these skills seems like they need to be tweaked a bit and I dont feel that either really add much to your fight.

I have not tried with a shield yet, dont have the gold for it. With high dex I have a good light heal and dont really see the need for a shield.

Ps. My bow ability is 0

I use both shield and dagger depending on how may mobs are on me or if im pvping or not.

Using dex doesnt help sine you cant use barbed shot or sharp shot

Dex isn't important but it does help. I have a lesser chance of my attacks missing and also evading more. I also enjoy having a higher heal which comes from a higher dex. Its more of a layed back style of playing. Its also helpful while grouping instead of having a druid I can heal whoever is taking aggro while still adding dmg to the fight making it very efficient to train.

Ps: why the hell does ranger armor add focus?!

so we can cast more skills and not have to waiste skillpoints to focus.

I'm going to use a spear soon (aggy trident) but I'm not going to use a shield. Read sirblaze's thread on shield vs. sword and it makes since that sheilds are indeed "broken".

Good job perry IMO rangers should only use bows and knuckleblades the knucks have a good amount of more dps ALTHOUGH i am just realizing rapid works with spears and not knucks so you beter have rapid maxed

Yeah but the spear is for my rogue For a spear the best set up is void trident, rad neck, golden blade, radiant, hero gloves, 10 dmg brace, 75 str 5 lite heal 250 spear brace, royal ring of spears, an attack ring (250), 2 50 dmg rings. Maybe with all this you can compete with some rogues.
