Re: Badabing DKP System Wiki
#2So I’ve been getting asked by many high level players, what exactly is DKP?
DKP is the fairest way of distributing drops in an MMO. It is much fairer than random rolling, and it is definitely fairer than having clan leaders dictate who gets drops and who doesn’t. DKP is what BadaBing uses to distribute Aggy drops, because it falls in line with our goals of rewarding hard work, and respecting all of our fellow clanmates. Not just a chosen few.
DKP stands for “Dragon Kill Points”
[quote=”Wikipedia”]Dragon kill points or DKP are a semi-formal score-keeping system (loot system) used by guilds in massively multiplayer online games. Players in these games are faced with large scale challenges, or raids, which may only be surmounted through the concerted effort of dozens of players at a time. While many players may be involved in defeating a boss, the boss will reward the group with only a small number of items desired by the players. Faced with this scarcity, some system of fairly distributing the items must be established. Used originally in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Everquest, dragon kill points are points that are awarded to players for defeating bosses and redeemed for items that those bosses would 'drop'. At the time most of the bosses faced by the players were dragons, hence the name.

Without getting into too much of the details, for each Aggy battle you attend you get a fixed amount of points. These points are redeemable to buy items dropped from Aggy. When more than one person wants an item, they will bid against each other using their points until one person wins the item. This way, the person with the most points will win the item every time, and the person that has the most points will either be:
1) the person that attended the most aggy fights or
2) The person that has received the least drops
This is the fairest way of handing out drops for these reasons:
1) rewards attendance at fights
2) Promotes equal distribution of loot throughout the clan over time.
3) people who are most active get the most drops, which helps clan more
4) prevents a small group of people from hoarding drops
5) Forces people to think if they need an item before bidding, so it promotes “need before greed”
6) Formal rules prevent clan leaders from abusing clan members with arbitrary rules
In BadaBing, all points are completely transparent using our spreadsheet that is visible to all clan members, so everyone can see what points they have and all past drops as well. We do this so that every person can see exactly what points they have, and plan their bids wisely.
With random rolling, loot is not distributed equally and prevents some people from getting gear. The luckiest people get loot in this system, not the most qualified. Using this system, it’s possible for a low level character who never shows up for fights to get an epic drop over a high level character who always shows up for fights.
When clan leaders distribute drops instead of using a fair distribution system, many abuses can happen.
1) Low level characters can get loot before high level ones. A common reason for this would be “as incentive to level up”
2) Players who are not well liked by clan leadership do not get drops. The person that brown noses the most will get the most drops.
3) Loot may be passed out as bribes. A common reason for this would be to influence players to not leave the clan. Another reason would be to influence a weaker clan to be acquired by a stronger clan, by passing drops out of the clan.
4) Leaders may demand that clan members give up drops they earned.
In BadaBing, we protect our members from any sort of abuses of power by using DKP. We respect the individual efforts of all our members, and only work in their best interests. We also leave nothing to chance. We reward individual effort, not luck.
If this system sounds like something that you are interested in, please talk to me or a BadaBing general. We are always open to a good discussion, or to recruiting good players to join our ranks.

Re: Badabing DKP System Wiki
#3This would be the fairest way if it weren't based on attendance those who have no life and sit and wait for aggy to pop yes will benefit from the system but if ur a workin man or woman or have kids or goto school and miss the aggy fight this system sucks for u bc u have to attend a few aggys for the drop you want .not to try and poke holes in the system bc if your there and your a high lvl this is a good system if your low lvl and cant attend alot of aggys this system sucks so IMO not theee fairest ways but one of them yes

#4Why so hostile? It ain't your clan anyway, we choose a regular time to kill him. Idc what you do with yours, whatevs your guys want but this is what works for us. I would appreciate a little less harshness if you don't know what the crap you're talking about. Questions are fine but bashing us just for the sake of it pisses me off. This would be the fairest way if it weren't based on attendance those who have no life and sit and wait for aggy to pop yes will benefit from the system but if ur a workin man or woman or have kids or goto school and miss the aggy fight this system sucks for u bc u have to attend a few aggys for the drop you want .not to try and poke holes in the system bc if your there and your a high lvl this is a good system if your low lvl and cant attend alot of aggys this system sucks so IMO not theee fairest ways but one of them yes

#5Wretched , the way i see it nueee hasnt said anything harsh or rude. He just provided a scenario where the ststem wouldnt quite be fair. At no point did he say that the DKP system sucks or is the most unreliable. No, all nueee said was that like any other system, it has its flaws and that they should be considered when using the system. Why so hostile? Re: Badabing DKP System Wiki
#7So if my life is busy with my kids then I can tell my job that I should get my full pay for only 10 hours a week of work? Obviously not an apples-to-apples comparison but the idea is the same. Those that put in the more effort and work get rewarded, this in turn helps the clan progress faster and ensures in the update, the most active members who contribute will be the best geared. I fully endorse DKP and it has worked out really well for my clan when we implemented a couple months ago. Even our less active members have gotten great drops, but the best drops often go to those who deserve them the most.

And if he did said it sucks , is there are something wrong with it? Isnt that exactly what goodies did on this post about our systems ?
Its a public forum and every person can share his opinions with others whether the publisher of the topic like them or not and that is exactly what nueee did its called freedom of speech.
If u ppl didnt wanted a debate over this topic u should simply explain how ur system works and not too make an examples why ours not. So if its pissed u off wrech take a deep breath.
And btw all those drops distribution systems fairness based on clan leaders opinions, badas fair for them ,usk fair for us and yours fair for you.

#10I think we can be civil about it and not have to name call. I have no issues with people pointing out potential flaws but if he had been polite and asked I would have been happy to tell him our attempt to solve it. I didn't choose to make assumptions and judge without knowing everything. And if he did said it sucks , is there are something wrong with it? Isnt that exactly what goodies did on this post about our systems ?

Would you like it if I said uskoci is a bunch of lazy *** generals hoarding everything for their friends? Because that seems rather offensive to me and I wouldn't enjoy being talked to that way.
I'm not saying any system works perfect, nobody is perfect to begin with. What I'm saying is I don't enjoy the childishness that has overtaken arawn. Everybody wants to get their punches in instead of actually acting like mature, sensible players who enjoy the game. I don't like posting on arawn because of the arguing between clans, this wasn't meant to be a bashing thread. This thread was a quick explanation of our system for people who didn't know yet, along with any questions regarding how it works.
