Racist is racist even if the comment wasn't intended by the speaker as such. It's racist because it relies on a negative stereotype of a group of people. Vulture's example of calling something "gay" to mean it is undesirable is also offensive and homophobic. The problem with racism/sexism/homophobia/etc. is that it creeps into daily language and goes unnoticed by the white/male/straight/etc majority. Just because YOU don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. And I guarantee that the individuals of that group as well as those sensitive to prejudice will notice. We ALL must notice, call it what it is, and stop it if we want to live in a world without this kind of hatred.

I was typed that quite long ago and just read it now and it is completely stupid :L Yes racist comments that even mention or refer to any culture/religion is a sign or gesture of racism. But reason why MOST people don't notice it today is because of the language that's being used today.

That's why i said before, if you want to say a joke and not offend anyone religously or ethnically, then don't mention it at all. Why not a 'Only r***tards sell so cheap?' Or 'Only stupid ppl sell so cheap'? That would have been less fuss then reffering to jews.

I'm agreeing with Derken, the stereotype isn't even right lol. The person is being accused for the word jewish people who sell stuff cheap... when that's absalute non sense. The stereotype with jewish people is that they are always rich, which suggests that they are supposedly stingy.

But it really shouldn't have been put that way anyway. I don't know shadow if it's 'Clearly racist' because the player must be under the influence in his possible urban area where most people are very reliant on the media and how they potray races/relgions.

Either way you shouldn't reffer to any religion in such negative manner.

Actually it was me selling the item and I was selling high. Shad said cheap because that's the I formation that he was given by accident. The real comment was "only a Jew would sell that high" at the time I dident know I was selling high and fixed my price as soon as notified, but the comment was still made and the individuals were still hurt. I agree with shad, vlad , and many other of the clans inner circle that racist comments no matter how small are wrong and can be very hurtful. I hope the relation between zerks and Vlad can be repaired asap.

Well... that is a turn of events

I was adhering to what shadow said, but now that makes sense. Saying only a certain religion sells very high (jewish) is 100% racist and unacceptable. This is a stereotype and actions must take place for it, so a suspension from bers may have been the right choice.
But we must not be too harsh about this seeing as the player is very young... That's what makes you a clan if you can help the lower status people understand as a team. I won't judge how you handle your ways shadow but just saying that's how toy would handle a situation and that's what makes ancients.

With the clarification that zerkers' ex member's remark did in fact rely on the stereotype Jew, the joke is no longer on the joker. I still think that the best way to battle such is by raising awareness through education (educate your clan members) rather than exclusion and alienating.

Considering that "puto" is a Spanish swear word, and considering that I have no clue as to internal clan efforts on educating the perpetrator, I'll leave it at that;-)

Hi derk from one white straight male to another, Very good question and i was going to ask the question myself but thought it would be better to let rest, but now that u have asked it i would really like to hear the response.

I do try to be aware of my privilege, although I'm sure i have missed opportunities in the past. Is there something in particular you see that I could improve upon?
