Re: Druid Suggestions - Beta

Hey Royal,

Great to see we have a great ambassador for our class working hard for us in the beta 8-)

I think strike could use a boost with reduced energy cost/quicker cast time/higher damage output. If you solo as a druid having all focus is impractical. Even with a moderate focus you should be hitting over 1k regularly on mobs when it is 49/35 and this is just not the case. Even at 35/35 it should hit around that amount regularly without magic lure. General energy cost for druid damage skills is too high at the minute.

Already been mentioned about another high DOT skill and SOL so please keep pushing that.

I would like to see staffs given a boost in the update so they are a viable option to totems.

Also calm works fine if you have points in it however it should be an instant cast like quickstrike as many druids who utilise it have almost no vit and it is a good tool for getting aggro off you.

I can't think of anything else at the minute but thanks for letting us give our feedback to you.

I find roots to be extremely powerful. The notion that I can freeze a critter, step a bit away and then grind him to death with vines (not to mention everyone else's ranged attack), all while whistling Dixie and getting a pedicure safe from any harm, seems like a loophole a mile wide. If you stand the right distance away and cast the new roots immediately after the old one stops the critter never reaches you. Rinse. Repeat. I wonder how much better it is with two Druids.

I am sure I only hold this opinion because I don't know how even more powerful many of the other skills are. The troubling thing about roots is the level cap. You can't just get a little and expect it to be useful. It seems like the cutoff should be influenced by your level and focus.

I am guessing you are kinda new and still low lvl. Roots is almost a necessity for lower lvl druids to be able to solo. Druids do not have much armor or hp and need to keep the mobs at a distance to avoid being hit. As you level up this spell will soon become useless to you due to the mobs higher resistances and range/skill attacks. Most druids give up on roots before lvl 50 or so. Play a bit more and look around on the forums for some great information about playing a druid. Good luck!

Thank you for the replies.

My opinion, formed in other lands, is that healers should stick to that and not try to become a self healing army of one. RPGs are best as a social adventure. Cooperativity and teamwork are what make it fun. The more diverse and specialized roles one can have, the bigger the party can be. Fun has a network effect. I recall one land fondly where people would train to be good at skinning furry critters for cash and would be invited on hunts just for that.

i know im a bit late on it, but energy for pretty much all skills need to be reduced.
ive said it in multiple posts even before beta was up.
i had druid beta testers warn me that a SUPPORT druid (the least energy consuming type) would need at least 400-500 sigils to have any decent regain, the dps druids would need either infinite sigils or pots that heal 2500 energy instead of 1k enery and 1k hp, cuz resto pots wont keep up with the energy demand. currently when i spam dps skills and calm on a boss i already cant keep energy up with pots and 400 sigils... i expect many people to abandon druids and go warrior, as that one is easy solo lvling and doesnt die as fast, doesnt take much dmg, so pots can be plenty for this class.
