Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?
#32I am a Warrior I fight for what I have I have actually only used plat once to get a sword(well worth it) but other than that I spend hours getting gold and leveling people who use it a few times its ok but using it too much is lame if you were level 10 one day and the next level 90 with full set of lux items your a cheater

Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?
#33Simple solution. Whenever someone gets on and gripes about people who buy plat and how it gives them an unfair advantage, take their name down. Never sell them even an idol. See if the story changes.
People who buy plat support the game. People who don't buy plat also support the game by creating a market for the plat buyers. All in all, everyone supports the game.
To start a topic which implies that you can either be a skilled player or a plat buyer is insulting. It is quite possible to be both. In fact, I have a short guide on how you too can become a plat buyer:
1. Get a job
Problem is that now you are spending all your time working, the complaint will be against people who have more free time than you.

Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?
#34Definatly wealth. Not much skill involved that I can tell so far. I do use skill to invent and tune builds, but wealth can easily make up for that by buying multiple alt and rebirth books.
Nerfed Mage ~140
Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?
#35there is no such thing as skill in this game
the competition is between logic, math, and wealth
logic if used correctly can only account for maybe 2% of a players awesomeness
math can account for maybe 3% of a players awesomeness
money can account for about 95% of a players awesomeness
a player who has exactly the right build but no lux will still definitely lose to a player who has a terrible build but all lux

Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?
#36also i have been speculating about the fact that maybe Celtic Heroes was meant to be a paying game but otm wanted its players to get to choose how much money they want to spend
and finally i have nothing against plat buyers
but it just irks me how a person with no money can play for months and still get to only like lvl 80 while a player with lots of money can get to a successful lvl 150 in maybe a couple weeks
im willing to bet that all you plat buyers will deny that money isnt everything but it actually is

#37The latest update is a big push for pay only if you want to play or level. It's too bad because there is a ton of good stuff but if it moves much farther I'll just quit.also i have been speculating about the fact that maybe Celtic Heroes was meant to be a paying game but otm wanted its players to get to choose how much money they want to spend

I have no faith in investing large sums of money when the game dynamics can be changed so much and may count for little or nothing in the future.

I'm a Plat buyer now and i got my 3 main toons to low 80s with very minimal Plat, just backpacks and a few sigils for the early levels. Never used an idol or a bought potion. But in the 80s I started buying Plat a bit.
You are only in your 80s. When you get higher you will see that each level is such a slog with the sharp angle of the exp per level graph. It's not impossible to level without Plat items but its just so van damme DREARY. You will almost certainly start using Elix and Resto Pots when you pass 100. Very few never use them. Where do they come from? Plat purchases.
How does it hurt you if some people rise quickly? It took me 18 months to get to 142 on my main with Plat. Doesn't sound fast does it?
The quick rise for Plat buyers doesn't generally continue past 100 because they have bought all the Lux. After that point all the good stuff is drops.
The situation may be different now, I don't know, in update 4.
Finally no Plat = no Celtic Heroes so maybe you can be a little charitable for those quick levelling players. They will slow down soon.....

#40.It used to be a skill based game..... Not its dominated by wealthy people who can buy a ton of plat
Space Invaders and Angry Birds are games of skill.
Celtic Heroes has never been that. I think you are seeing those good old days through rose coloured glasses.
And those wealthy people (wealthy?!?!) pay OTM salaries and keep the servers running and pay for band width and advertising and the rent on OTM's palatial headquarters.
If a player doesn't buy Plat they are.......kind of a sponge or a barnacle on the good ship CH don't you think?
That comment was not entirely serious of course and NOT aimed at those who don't buy Plat, just the anti Platters.
The game MUST have as many players as possible to make it interesting to play, whether they pay or not. But the anti Plat brigade seem to feel quite free blaming Plat buyers for everything they see as wrong with the game.
So to all the anti Platters out there why not get a job or stop smoking or do something else to enable YOU to buy Plat and then you can join the Plat buyers that are oppressing everyone so much.
We hold meetings in the Inn to plot world domination so come and join us....bring a plate.
