Re: Celtic heroes: wealth or skill based game?

also i have been speculating about the fact that maybe Celtic Heroes was meant to be a paying game but otm wanted its players to get to choose how much money they want to spend

and finally i have nothing against plat buyers
but it just irks me how a person with no money can play for months and still get to only like lvl 80 while a player with lots of money can get to a successful lvl 150 in maybe a couple weeks
im willing to bet that all you plat buyers will deny that money isnt everything but it actually is
.
I'm a Plat buyer now and i got my 3 main toons to low 80s with very minimal Plat, just backpacks and a few sigils for the early levels. Never used an idol or a bought potion. But in the 80s I started buying Plat a bit.

You are only in your 80s. When you get higher you will see that each level is such a slog with the sharp angle of the exp per level graph. It's not impossible to level without Plat items but its just so van damme DREARY. You will almost certainly start using Elix and Resto Pots when you pass 100. Very few never use them. Where do they come from? Plat purchases.

How does it hurt you if some people rise quickly? It took me 18 months to get to 142 on my main with Plat. Doesn't sound fast does it?

The quick rise for Plat buyers doesn't generally continue past 100 because they have bought all the Lux. After that point all the good stuff is drops.

The situation may be different now, I don't know, in update 4.

Finally no Plat = no Celtic Heroes so maybe you can be a little charitable for those quick levelling players. They will slow down soon.....
.
im not talking about the guys that spend like $50 or so on plat
im talking about the guys that spend $300+ per toon
money can do anything
it can get you drops if you have enough money
for example if you shouted that you were buying some item that nobody was willing to sell for like lets say 3 million NOBODY COULD REFUSE THAT
and believe me there are people crazy enough to spend that much money on the game

and if a player with plat levels on super combo elix and has a bunch of idols and restoration pots/speed pots/etc then they WILL level fast
it just depends on how much they spend
and im talking about the big money spenders
not the low money spenders

i myself have spent a little money on the game just for things like bank space/backpack space/alt books/rebirth books/sigils
but this was only a small sum of money
i do not find spending money on a good game to be a problem

Nothing will change speed-leveling, except the removal of elixers. I don't see this happening though. I have literally lost friends who sped up in levels. They join rival(and better) clans, and boom, there ya have it, suddenly your friend is ksing your group on a boss.

Which stinks because they will level 4x faster than you, given that you spent the same time playing. That goes for your enemies too. They used to be noobs, now they rule ya.

Where does all that gold come from? I am on a low budget here, I make about 2k per level. All it takes is a 20 dollar bill to get me 80k+

Think you are looking at it wrong. I used to buy plat and didnt sell it really. My gold comes from the grind. Really i think maybe you are just a little jelous and have a biased opinion on people that buy plat. I think really the people dumping hundreds of dollars on this game tend to take it a little more serious than people who dont FOR THE MOST PART. So in turn they look like they have it easier. I level with a few people who haven't bought plat other than some bag slots, and yet they keep pace with me. So why they have some advantage it isn't plat buyers running things.

Just like every mmo that is any good TIME pays off the longer you are at it. But thats what i love the most about this games plat store. It really doesn't give you any real advantage other than cutting that time down. Well except sigals, but you have to spend hundreds of dollars almost for that to be an issue. So if you spend that much money to get the regen why not be a boss.

For a few months now i havent been buying plat. Have funded my leveling with no problem, and bought the new 150 lux helm and offhand for my druid. So to blame your short comings on other people is a bit absurd. And maybe if you put forth the effort on your toon as they do theres you wouldn't be seeing this problem. Keep in mind also that while this is just a game to some,to others its a hobby so to speak. So to them spending a few bucks on it isn't that big of a deal. I mean it costs me more to take the wife and kids to dinner than it does to buy 4k plat.

So really imo this isnt really a skill or wealth based game but rather a time/dedication type of a game. The more time and dedication you put forth the greater the outcome.
