I still think however, wands should be ranged.

#14I use the Halloween Wand and it is ranged. I think it works well, and keeps me out away from the melee action in group situations.
I am not too concerned with the lack of a root or slow spell for Mages. Mages are damage dealers, pure and simple.
I also think, as far as MMOs go, the Mage here is pretty much in line with what they should be.
The only thing I would change is the refresh time for Ice Shards. It seems (at least on my server) that most people avoid fighting Fellfire and I think tweaking the refresh on Ice Shards would change that a bit. It seems that most Mages focus on building their Fire Magic line and not so much their Ice Magic line. If the refresh for Ice Shards was cut in half I think this would change. It doesn't need to be as fast as Firebolt, but it definately needs to be faster than what it is.

#15I agree Mage wands are not good weapons. They should add to magic attacks not melee attacks and shoudl be range weapons. Even the Wardens wand does minimal damage and is slow. Ice King wand does more damage but is still minimal compare to any othere melee weapon.

#17I would love a strong ranged wand.
I use ancient sceptre when on my own. When in boss battle, I switch to the yulestave, (which is ranged) so that I stay out of the way and don't block the tank so druids can target (unless really small grp and I can get in there)
Doesn't do as much damage (I think it is probably like gnats to Falgren lol) but it is a faster wand so will at least help my wand ability go up while I'm doing the real work (healing/support/fire and ice).
Oh and yes...re recharge on ice. I'm fire based but trying to up my ice skills. Hard with interruptions and long recharge. Fine when I'm in the background on a boss battle, but on solo I can rarely get ice shards in unless I lead with that first.

#18I just started this game, but Ive played mmos for years. Im a lvl 15 mage so far, and the wands I use is melee only I'm pretty sure. That makes zero sense haha. All mages I've ever played use wands because they do magic damage, and the higher level you get the more powerful a wand you can use. If wands are so stupid now, could'nt a mage just use a shield in each hand? And only do magic attacks
