I briefly tried an ice mage build this morning. I quite liked it, but there was a lot of waiting around to do for the spells to recast. Also, with the high chance of evade, this was more likely to result in my mage’s death. I think that frostbite is not very powerful, and I was disappointed with it. I think the initial hit should be higher, but I still think incinerate is probably better. If I could get ice attunement spell, then I’m sure the ice mage would be amazing. I will probably respec again, if I can ever find it...

Glad you tried it- For the reasons you listed are why I wouldn't recommend it; fire build you'd level faster even though ice skills generally do more damage compared to it's fire alternate (ice shards>fire bolt, incinerate<frostbite etc.) Also the array of Mage fire skills back you up pretty well from DOT (damage over time; cloak of fire, incinerate) to AoE (area of effect; firestorm)

Thought id share as i thought most of you may already know. Ice build is awesome - shard, blast attunement, frostbite isnt. You just need to sacrifice skill points for the other skills. I dropped e shield for the time being to level up quicker.
