Although I haven't posted anything before, I feel strongly enough about this to say something now.
It shames me whenever I see anyone in my clan (Elite) boast about ksing someone in clan chat.
There's always some justification: "Oh, he and such-and-such ksed me earlier on so-and-so..." C'mon! Really? This isn't the Middle East - Rise above it!
It happens far to often and it's a little bit perverse to get your kicks from screwing someone over. And lets call it for what it is, screwing someone over.
I've been playing for nearly 2 years. I remember the bad old days when an Elite (or Haven) member would ks someone and that someone would then take their revenge out on the weaker members. I'm 154 now so I can take care of myself (**** yeah!) but it always **** me that this would happen.
And if what I've read before is any indication, the main defense seems to be "Might makes right" We're strong so we take what we want, when we want. It's like a group of little boys arguing over who has the biggest willy...
Has anyone seen/read Lord of the Flies?
I KNOW there is a "Tall Poppy" syndrome in play. Other clans DO get jealous, and they definitely DO NOT have a clean record as far as ksing goes, but it's up to EVERYONE to lead by example.
There are a lot of great ppl who aren't in Elite who deserve more success in this game than they have had - and it's partially due to the actions of my clan.

Elite has always been the strongest clan in Mabon.... but so what?

Great post. I don't think it has ever been a "hate elite" thing - and I am sorry if that is how it seems to get characterised. For me the problem has been those high lvl characters whose only purpose seems to be to ruin someone else's fight, and this is what Steeve is getting at. It was so tiresome before the update constantly getting outdone on a boss just so that the elite member can try and sell me the drop. I see why c2 gave up the game and I have come pretty close. Everyone wants this to be a game with some competition but is this really what you think competition is? As always those who want to say "suck it up" or "work on your dps" will feel that it is sour grapes but there really is nothing cool in wanting to spoil the game for others. It just isn't cool. Anyway Zara thanks again for the post, and to all those cool guys and girls in elite who are great fun to be in game with. Peace

Im not attempting to justify ksing but let me list a few reasons why it is happening:

Many people outside elite have screwed us over by taking drops we need or refusing to give drops when we allow them in groups for quests

Most people in elite have reached 150 and there is little reason to level beyond that point. Without leveling all there is to do is kill bosses.

like you said, we have no rivals but it would certainly be a welcome change. We enjoy having some competition every now and then :p

and finally, most people outside elite have attempted to ks us and sometimes succeeded. If the rest of mabon is willing to ks what makes elite the bad guy? the fact that we are more organized and stronger?



Anyway, I am not personally a fan of ksing but I will support my clan when we need to kill a boss. Im sorry for the bad experiences you've had with Elite and I hope that in the future you will be able to see the true character of my clan-mates instead of the tough exterior. I can attest to the fact that all elite members are pleasant to be around when you truly get to know them.
