ok heres whats happening community:
first ice blast is now thrown away due to this *** power less dmg of 45%!!!! now even fire bolt hits higher. one thing do u prefer casting 4fire bolts or doing 1ice blast? think about it!!!!
second energy shield. mages were just starting to be able to solo train but now our shields are **** again and the energy cost is still way high for less protection WTF???? if it was about pvp (which i doubt because warriors could break it now easily) u just couldve decreased the power of the shield in arena like u did with heals and buffs.
Third 10% is ok that i do understand but 45% wtf
fourth u increased the power of other classes and totally reduced the mages, why???????
fifth im repeating myself a lot but for the armor we have ( it suks like never) it is IMPOSSIBLE to stand up against mobs if you do not have BIG aggra drops or a huge luxury set of items in ur dispositions.
sixth i just call that BS im an ice mage and i thought this new expansion was awesome to diverse the choices for mages. today everyone will just go back to the old version of fire mages.
seventh change this stupid nerd now!!!!!! decrease of 10% not 45%! people complained bout it because they were jealous of our amazing dmg but tell u what, we have no ARMOR!!!!! we must do dmg to survive or mages are completely useless

Can you provide some more information on precisely how you feel Mages have been affected by this patch?

We take all the feedback we receive on-board, but simply saying that something doesn't work isn't enough.
Here is some feedback I submitted earlier. I would like to know what the specific rationale was when the the balance patch was formulated.
Here is what I said earlier:
-as for mage... All I can say is Wow! All I see is the power of *insert skill* has been decreased by a significant percentage. I can see a small decrease might have been in order. I wonder, is this the result of people complaining on the forums? I hope not. Feedback is important when considering game design especially when balancing classes. I have not played the game since the patch because I am at school and cannot get on, but after several months of experimenting pre-update I finally had come to the conclusion that without way better gear or a few hundred sigils the most effective build for me was almost full support. After the update I found that I could finally manage an effective attack build. Now it seems after a big step forward we have taken a big step back. All I see is decrease. Yes ice blast has a slight decrease in energy cost. However the energy cost was only decreased by 10% while the power was decreased by 45%? What was the rationale behind decreasing the power of almost all mage skill attacks? Other classes felt that they had fallen behind? Now I have the same problems with energy and skill evasions to deal with but the upside(the high damage when my skills actually hit) is no longer an upside? Just because a player in game sees a mage with a high skill hit does not mean in anyway that mages are "overpowered" or "OP" (in forum speak). I am sorry that this is so long and I hope that it does not sound like a rant againt OneThumbMobile or any players who called for "nerf" of mages. I was just wondering what the rationale of the game designers was when they decided to greatly decrease mage spell power and some of the cast time but leave most energy costs and evasions the same. I do think that there should not be a gap between "power" of classes. But All things should be done in moderation. If we could get a rationale from someone who was involved in this decision it would be nice.

Edit *Also, why was shield decreased? With almost no armor mages need a strong energy shield. I have not seen any complaints about it. Why decrease its power too?

I know you might be getting a lot of complaints about the Mages changes, but I am actually okay with them. I just have one request....

With the reduction in Energy Shield, it now costs more to cast than it protects. Could we get a proportional reduction in casting cost?

Thank you.
(example: mine protects 1422 and costs 1448 energy to cast, it used to protect over 1800 for 1448 energy)

Lots of people was asking for there class to be buffed not mages to be nerfed. Yes they did need a nerf but it should of been small then a increase in others. OTM have chosen an issue of classes being underpowered and instead of working on 4 classes which are not working right thye have chose to decrease a class greatly and also decrease rogues which was already underpowered. Iceblast was very overpowered and i do think that skill needed a 20-30% nerf hitting 11k was a joke seeing as assainate can only hit that with a spear and its not aoe and has restrictions. But the nerf was massive instead of increasing all other classes. They need someone who plays the game to work for them.

Hi there, we have been doing extensive testing and are looking into ways to make energy shield a better gameplay mechanic, currently it's very binary either you have a shield or you die which isn't that great. There should be several strategies rather than having to have a shield all the time, so with that in mind we will be looking into any suggestions about this. As always we will also be listening to any requests resulting in balance such as this one.

with the casting time, recast time, and high chance of evasion - Ice blast is a total joke, which now makes me question an ice based mage altogether. If hybrid is still the best now why even make attunements ? Ice blast has a 20 second recast FFS and does squat
