Hi there, we have been doing extensive testing and are looking into ways to make energy shield a better gameplay mechanic, currently it's very binary either you have a shield or you die which isn't that great. There should be several strategies rather than having to have a shield all the time, so with that in mind we will be looking into any suggestions about this. As always we will also be listening to any requests resulting in balance such as this one.
I suggest making it absorb damage based on the casters mana. For example it could take 30% mana to 100% physical damage absorbed . Possibly needs further testing but the only other e shield i have encountered was in diablo 2 . When its cast you take less damage until your mana i depleted. Then you basically just die. I think it definately should have based its absorption of damage based on the energy of the mage . Not just a fixed amount as it is currently.
Energy shield used to cause damage done to come off of energy instead of health, but tha was way to OP and we changed that when we beta tested update 3.

I like energy shield the way it is now, even after the reduction, I just think the casting cost needs a 25% reduction as well.

Regarding the armor, we should never have warrior armor, but a small change may be warranted. I regularly train with a ranger and I have more health than her, but without shield I die in no time. Maybe a small armor bump (not as high as rangers or rogues) but also add defense stats to our armor. At level 166 with aggy gear...ancient wyrmbone and ancient beastbone, my defense is 10.
Honestly, it wouldnt be overpowered if the cooldown, cast duration, and % conversions were mathamaticallly sound. It would be a completely fair e shield then.

Would the game survive without warrior? No without druid? No without ranger? Not with new bosses. Without mage no need lure for enrage timer. Without rogues? Well yes mages can replace. Proves an underpowered clas that is ment to be dps

Mage overpowered? In a way of doing massive skill damage? Sort of.
But in a way mobs of our own level wipe us out with 400+ autos? No way mages are OP.
Look at other games. The mage/wizard/caster has the most damage of the entire game but its surviveability is minimized.
Before the patch i actually started to enjoy playing a mage,now its like a fly in a swimming pool: helpless

Oh and you're a rogue right? Hows the feel hitting 800 autos? Pretty OP isnt it? Be a shame if you get nerfed....
The rogue I duo with autos upwards of 1200 a hit with lures up.

Mages where fine. We ran out of energy unless we were being boosted and sacrificed on bosses.
I was finally happy mages could go all ice in this update. But what on earth are you doing otm if your going to reduce by almost half which is far to much. I wouldn't of mind if u buffed shards if the reason u decreased ice blast was because it was aoe. You reduces it by almost half yet took 10% energy of it.... That's seems fair(sarcasm) the other problem i have is you have mixed fire and ice on dragon armour. Is there any reasonable explanation for this. You finally give the choice of separate paths for mags and do that to armour. My suggestions are boost ice shards or frostbite and keep the aoe ice blast as it is make the 10% energy reduction for all spells. As for the armour i suggest giving you the option for ice or fire dragon armour and the bone quest armours or put both ice stats and fire stats on them as being mixed fire and ice is not good for dps. Also have the option for changing your dragon armour from ice to fire if needed if u dont put ice and fire skills on the same armour. Hope you take these suggestions and change mages. Thanks
as i suggested in this post i think the aoe spell is op so boost our other spells and keep our damage roughly the same as it was.

Lures... I guess thats what I am going be now. Back to almost full support for me.
