Just like target lock, mob and boss aggro leans towards players closer to its level. There is no other explanation as to why Stonefang would move away from me and kill a level 98 three times without me dying once.
Well,
A lower level 2-cent-worth
On the Down-side
First
for the healing and support druid beeping in battle apparently makes the most apparent difference.
Beeping a hybrid leaning to solo, I had to tank out plenty a mob in smaller groups also before update.
Nonetheless it substantially increased.
Second
I got a feeling I can't proof up to now, that there is some essential time constant influence.
Don't know how to put it. Like a shorter time of averaging player for getting aggro.
When I cast more in a certain period of time and someone else is conserving energy I get aggro.
Third
Randomness influence is still underestimated by most.
And probably they fiddled with that one a bit also.
On the Up-side
Have a look at it an other way.
Enemies just got smarter.
Given u are in Arena in the situation of a higher mob. Attacked by several folks each a lot weaker than u.
Would u sit and hack at the designated meat shield, who's doing few damage?
You would?
I won't! I'd go for the dps enemy and try if I can single blast him. If not I knock the healers. Especially if they mock 'innocent bystanders' and they are stupid enough to be healing power only, no defense no armor.
BTW I don't think the tank/dps strategy ever made it into any actual rw military strategy handbook. Never seen any tank forfeiting fire power either. Sure there are tank(artillery)/infantry and chopper(cavalry)/infantry strategies, but all of them are a completely different story.
So pulling some aggro by heal-spamming everyone is just logical. And some clever mobs going for the adds in a group first is ok. Still it personally sucks if the single-blasters do this on me.
So probably everyone has to adopt a new style and new tactics. I even wondered if I should completely restart my career.
Only real problem I have is, that nothing is for sure. No one knows and OTM doesn't tell, if this is on fully understood intention or just a mishap. What changes are to stay and what will be nerfed or broken the next patch even on popular demand. But a game being a bit more sophisticated than tanks tank, dps kill and healers stand by and spam heals is a bonus.
