Prices on items like this, and broom of doom, are set by the seller and determined by the amount of gold someone has. My broom of doom discussions start at 2mil, that's where I start even considering it. Too high? Don't buy it, it's an awesome item that I enjoy, whatever. That's how most who have the super rare items feel about them and thus they are priced according to the seller and only limited by the amount of gold a buyer may have.

Actualy, if you think an item is worth it, pay it's price. No matter the item.

For example, if everyone wanted books of rebirth, of coarse they would pay 1 gold. But if you asked them "How much will you pay for it?", and they say 10k, than to them, it's not over priced. It is only a ripoff if you can buy that item for less from a vendor.

Due to inflation, what someone thinks is worth 1k in one world, another may value the item at 4k

Items that are only accessable from the platinum shop or are rare, can be sold a high price, due to demand. Someone will buy it. with 20 platinum, you can buy 1k gold, or a book of rebirth. Is that book worth 1k? No, it is worth more because not everyone buys platinum, and due to demand, people will pay a high price.

The same goes for Darkflame. You don't have to pay the price if you think it's too high, but if you really, really want it, you will pay for it.
