EXP Per Level

#1
Ok, so there is no easy way to post this. I have everything in Excel, but it's too long, so I had to merge 3 screenshots. I tested this on a lvl 122 toon and this is the exp I received. I am confident this pattern stays consistent as you level because I have noticed the same exp patterns as I have leveled past 100. The only thing I don't think it applies to is the very low levels when you first start out. Keep in mind I have a few gaps, but this should help someone get started if they want to formulate an exp graph. If I get a chance I will finish testing the remaining fields.

I was able to test on one star mobs up to lvl 140 as I was able to solo those. I tested 2-4 stars about 10 lvls higher than me and filled in the rest given the patter remained consistent. I believe the 3 and 4 star exp might be off by 1 or 2 give or take due to rounding in the system. I haven't had enough time to test exp below my level because the pattern is much harder to identify.

yes I did that for 1 star mobs in the "experience" section of my wiki. Thank you I can make equations and graphs out of this for you to use on your wiki if you want.
Nerfed Mage ~140
Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Copy this sig! :)

This is great stuff, and definitely useful info. What I find interesting is when you graph the points in your dataset.

What you see is that the curve is quadratic up until level 122. Then the function becomes linear. So it stands to reason that there are two seperate functions being used to determine xp: one for monsters lower level than you, and one for higher.

Here are the equations for monsters higher level than you, where y=xp, and x=the monsters level

1 Star: y=20x+80
2 Star: y=26x+189
3 Star: y=40x+160
4 Star: y=52x+378

Feel free to do whatever you want with it. It's really bizarre how it goes from being linear when killing mobs your level and higher, but drops off at a steep slope as soon as you kill anything below your level.

What I don't get is why i can kill a 2 star mob exactly my level and get way more exp than a 1 star mob 18 levels higher than me. With that math you would think a 2 star mob my level should be much harder than a 1 star mob 18 levels higher than me, but that isn't the case. I can kill 1 stars 18 levels higher than me, but I can very barely do so, while a 2 star mob my level I kill in just a few hits and he doesn't even scratch my health. IMO exp might need to be looked at again, because this doesn't seem fair.

Hopefully one of the devs can weigh in here as to their thought process behind exp. IMO as exp varies across stars and levels, it should be identical in difficulty. Meaning, if I kill a 1 star and receive 3k exp and I also kill a 2 star and receive 3k exp, both mobs should be identical in difficulty regardless of their level because their reward is identical. This current system rewards you for killing things at your level and you get diminishing returns for killing anything higher. In addition you see even more drastically diminishing returns as you kill below your level. In other words, if you want to maximize your exp potential based off of mob difficulty, you should never kill anything that is not exactly your level because you will always see diminishing returns whether you go above or below your current level. To me that just does not make sense.

Exactly true. All else being equal you level by far the fastest on same level mobs. Why?

Well the xp for one as you can see the xp drops off fast below your level. Mobs above your level usually have more hp and damage and also resist a lot of hits and even when you do hit them they take a lot less damage. This negates any value in farming above your level if it takes 2x as long to kill and gives 10% more xp.

Personally I try to find concentrations of 4* mobs between 0-7 levels higer and group train them. I get amazing xp.

Almost every single mmo or even just rpg works this way.

This is on purpose to prevent power leveling. They want you to fight mobs your level. When it passes 3 leeks above you, you earn less exp. it is so you stay at your own level, so my level 52 soloing Mage would earn the most exp with a 3 star level 55 mob.
