See this is the one thing that drives me nuts. I don't understand why so many people think that Christianity is the only religion in existence and that it is the religion of the United States. The United States is a melting pot of different cultures and religions. As such, marriage is defined in many cultures and religions differently. Just because it is defined ONE way in Christianity does not mean that ONE way is correct. You can have an opinion all day long within your own personal church, but you have ZERO right to restrict the pursuit of happiness of another human being.

I suggest the nay-sayers re-read my original post in this thread since you all seem to have skipped most of this conversation.

For the person who complained about LGBT Pride Parade, let me put this in perspective. Most LGBT hide in seclusion for their entire life. LGBT Pride Parades are often the only times that they can actually be open about their sexuality. If you don't like what you see, then don't go to a Pride Parade, it is that simple. The Pride Parades are a release of frustration that is built up over a lifetime. How would you feel if you were forced to act like someone else for your entire life? In all honesty I think your statement is quite ludicrous. How many straight people go hog wild and exhibit lewd activity during spring break, mardi gras, or even at the local bar? Pretty sure every time I go to a bar I see everything you just listed between straight individuals, so I don't see any reason for you to complain. I see girls dressed over-sexually every single day, even the children of public schools. I see over-sexualization in the media especially in teenage shows or movies. It doesn't matter where we go, there is over-sexualization of straight individuals 24/7. If you don't like what you see at a Pride parade, then I suggest you don't attend one. When LGBT Pride becomes mainstream, which it will very soon, and you see LGBT individuals showing PDA, I suggest you walk on or look away if it makes you uncomfortable. LGBT will never go away, so the sooner people embrace it the better.

My only question that I want everyone to think about is this. What would you do if your child was LGBT? Would you disown him or her as you nay-sayers claim or would you accept them for who they are? That is the real question you need to ask yourself. My wife and I know where we stand. We will accept him or her for whoever they are, for whoever they love, and for whatever they want to be. That is what it means to be a parent. Unconditional support of your children.

America was founded by religious men who intended for America to be based on the principles of their religion, in which one of the major rules that God said, was (paraphrase) no Homosexuality, it is wrong. "Do not sleep with a man as you would a woman". And you're saying that Christianity isn't the main religion of the U.S.? So you think Christianity should be an inferior religion in the U.S.? NO. The founding fathers would be ashamed of the mindset planted into childrens' minds in modern day. If you're not happy with your gender, sorry for your luck. In Holland there isn't much difference between people who are gay and the people who are not. We respect each other and as far as I know things are going well.

I already said it; marriage is dictated BY THE GOVERNMENT, and the PRIVILAGE that religious institutions are given BY THE GOVERNMENT to marry a couple DOES NOT give said religious institution any right to dictate what marriage is.

In America, the people have rights not the government. The government is there to govern and keep the proper parameters in enforced. The common misconception is that the government provides, but it cannot provide without taking from another. We are a republic, not a democracy. Egypt is a democracy, ask them how a majority rule type of law is working out.

We have 7 billion people around the world and it increases every day. More people=More demand of food, water etc. One day the population would increase to 15 billion. So they are desadvantages to both sides of the argument and advantages. We do not have unlimited animals you know, so as the population increases, some if not all animal population decrease We have renewable food sources but a world wide drought could devastate this renewable resource. In my opinion anything could happen. Laws won't stop gays or lesbians, they would still do it secretly anyways.

In case you haven't been around the past 150 years.., we have a group known as immigrants, originally the newer immigrants were not accepted because of their differences such as religion. We are in a diverse country now so not everyone is christian, if they aren't christian but they can vote than that supports the fact that religion DOESN'T dictate America, I think Pigman said this.

And no it's not a choice, I could prove my point easily, but I don't think the forum rules allow me to do so, so I'll just say that when I was 6ish I would think its gross seeing people kissing! So did many others at that age area! But hormones change you, and somewhere in that persons life they pick up something, whatever it is, by observing someting, and they basically have hormones related to homosexuality. Do you think they want to be like that?
