Never in my life have I read such a stupid thread of replies (thanks godo for the inquisitive question, though)
Ok, firstly:
Life steal is a good skill if you use it right. Unfortunately, it has to be reasonably high to be of good use (with rings mostly) and it is quite an energy well. But to put the skill in context, I went from 154-181 using only sigils and lifesteal for healing. Not a single resto pot used. Not one. And no druid, either.
Secondly:
If you wear armour with chaos resist, the standard chaos aoe shouldn't hurt you too badly (if it does, reconsider your lack of vitality. Right now). If you have a dedicated tank for bosses who can hold it for the entirety of a fight, just stand behind the boss and whack away so it dies before the rage timer sets off. That's the usual rogue tactic, anyway.
If you're like me and love tanking even though you were made for killing sh*t, I use my high defence as an advantage to take all the adds. Apart from high king and sreng where there are simply too many adds for one poor girl, I take adds on my own. Rogues kill quickly, and because the only adds that use skills are the trolls in snorri pit, having maxed reflex and huge dex means I rarely get touched (Im not counting glash adds, those are so weak theyre not even worth mentioning).
Thanks to dps (mostly rogues, inactive mages), for the past month or so my clan (who, on the game-wide (all servers) spectrum, isn't all too special) have been able to kill all 5* bosses before adds even respawn once. It makes our fights so much easier.
I don't even know what I've written anymore, I'm so tired.
BUT my point is rogues are FAR from useless.
And to touch and specifically on OP's point about the aoe's being "outrageously too much", get more hp and/or chaos resist. If you can't stand the lack of resist, don't wear beastbone or wyrmbone to boss fights. Simple. More health, more not being dead. Use your heads.
