Dragonlord drama

#1
First, thx waio for your post.

Lots of anger and resentment because of dragonlord dicing. Right now we allow full dl to dice, so they can payback others. However, there may be some cases of abuse such as the person helping outfit someone else rather than paying back. Or just lying.

There are many options to look at

1. We post what we owe. But that can be manipulated
2. If u roll to pay one one back and win, the DM will do the actual payback. This might be hard (ESP on DM) and require tracking.
3. Dont allow payback, which would be aweful i think
4. List all highest player on lugh, and outfit them in order. This more like a clan policy, and has its issues (like some high lvl but isn't at many boss fights, or doesn't put in camping time). So, i dont think i would like it, tho i would stand to benefit.

The more i think on it, the more i come back to something i often use when setting policies at work: dont fight battles you can't win.

So, under that philosophy, another option is that you simply get to dice for your color.

If you don't need, it would be nice if you passed. If u owe, that is between you and your creditor.

The unenforcible corollary might be that on lugh we don't sell dl stuff. Or we only sell for modest prices with 25k for crown.

Personally, i am happy to simply dice if my color comes up, however i know that warriors may not feel the same. Lets try to find a solution we can all live with.

Thanks

A version on choice 1:
Require that anyone who wishes to roll for payback post ahead of time here in forums on the owing thread. And announce who they are rolling to pay back before dicing. No post--no roll. Yes, there is a chance someone might get away with rolling extra, but not for long.

Ex: I owe xyn one egg and dont need any myself. I announce that im rolling for xyn and get the egg. Anyone in that fight will then know that i shouldnt roll at the next fight.

While i am generally fine with going back to dicing for own class regardless (aks last unnumbered choice), I intensely dislike selling dragonlord drops this early before most of the higher levels are equipped. And this will encourage selling.

I don't know if you could get everyone to agree to this, but to work, drops would likely have to first go to the most high rank people who are most active at the fights, not just high ranking. And take into account different clans when moving down the list of players.

It would likely be a nightmare trying to get people to agree on who to outfit, but isn't this how some other worlds do it?

I've stopped participating in 6 star fights because I'm not losing drops to alts or low levels anymore. Somehow the rules always change at dice time and the high level gearing doesn't work. At least for rogue. The items are out there and Divine is the only one fully geared. Do the math.

I think other worlds do their outfitting within the clan. but most worlds have a dominant clan too. So, i am not certain in would work well on lugh.

@vir: not sure what you mean about ppl outfitting alts. I dont see too many alts at fights (vulture/venus, occasionally, if no other mages i bring xyn). Also, alts are supposed to be approved by the group at start to be eligible for dicing - and there have been times we told people that their alt is not needed.

if you are referring to people getting drops once they are outfitted and there is a question about whether they are really paying people back - that is a different issue and is apparently becoming a problem - thus the post.

Though i will say one thing: as flawed as our system may be now, it is far better that the pricey aquisitions we had to make for meteoric and frozen. I no longer have to buy a yellow from a druid in the same grp who happened to get that drop. and we also can use multiple groups now and everyone still has a shot at the drops - which makes the fights much cheaper.

I have only been back playing for a bit, but this does seem much better than before. It also seems like much more people are around for fights over the last few weeks than even just a month or two ago. Is this just a peak time for playing and might we expect a seasonal drop off pretty soon? If so, making drastic changes to the system might not be a good idea...

Maybe keep pushing for an increase rate of drops (more grand shards too) as you keep fine tuning the drop/dice system.

I think that all should be able to dice for their color. The reason; there is very little reward for those who already have dl, and could, theoretically cause high levels to not help others. Now most do help, but I am already seeing some not showing up to fights that they dont need stuff. I know this is not a perfect system, but from all the complaining, it is probably the easiest to regulate. There is some amount of trust and honor in any system to work correctly, and there will always be those who take advantage of that system. But as a whole, I am proud of Lugh. I have played on other servers where ks is the norm and expected. This was not fun to me.

As for alts dicing. Yes i do dice my rogue. BUT I never roll for both in same fight. I either roll for a druid item or a rogue item, never both. ANd, my rogue has zero dl armor. The reason? I have given them all to higher levels. I will not post who I have given to here, but I gave freely. And if i get back, great!!. If not, I will continue to play both.

I do however roll for both on aggy fights if class specific. I do not roll twice for any non-class items. If this is a problem with anyone, let me know and I will announce ahead of time which im doing. Or I will leave rogue at home during aggy fights.

There are two thoughts to mains/alts at fights. (not that I would do this, but it could happen). Lets say we are going to kill snorri. I have a druid and rogue both at 181. Im invited to help kill. i want to bring both, but grp says no to rogue, we only want you druid. Now, Im upset because my druid has full dl (wish i did lol). So I say "well rogue is my main". So now you have a dilemma. Now I decide to not bring druid, ( which is needed) because Im not allowed to bring rogue. Im not really sure how to solve this issue. I personally dont mind leaving one out. In fact, would prefer to leave out one or the other. But both are often needed.

Now, Virulent. I understand your frustration. But i will be happy to help outfit other higher rogues before me. And I have been doing exactly that. I have given 2 horns, 2 idols, 1 egg, and 1 urn to higher levels. i currently have one idol and gems. I bring my rogue to nearly all of the dl bosses., I do this to help out. I DO help outfit others. Not all will do this, but as I said earlier, there will always be some issues when an honor sytem or trust is required.

I will go along with consensus on this issue. But please dont come to boss fight, and then complain that the system is no good if you dont vote.

I know who I owe for dl drops and if those ppl don't need the drop then I will pass on drops once I've paid bk who I owe then will stop dicing but I will still help out on boss fights to help others get geared and also because I enjoy the fights with u all. My main fights will be 170 and 180 because I personally need 1 horn 2 crown for off hand ppl will still use resto idol etc so why shouldn't they be allowed to dice to repay ppl back sorry for long post but I always try to get on with everyone and to have fun:) Callator !! Pick a main. Gear it. When its full DL roll your alt. I feel as though some ppl are only bringing alts to get more drops n then they trade alt drops for main items. I appreciate you helping ppl. The goal was to outfit high levels n make fights easier then get everyone else geared and leveled up for Mordris. At this rate Mordris will watch me xp till I'm lvl 200 before he dies.
