My clannie didn't scam the charm. He didn't get it free. He already gave the profit to Azz. If he gave another 1 million to Azz, then wouldn't my clannie be the one that is out 1 million and not Azz? You said yourself that he paid 1 million for the charm...Heli,
One of you clannies was involved in selling a camo charm that was scammed from Ginger.
The clannie bought the camo for 1 million gold and was trying to resale for 1.7 million. Still cheap, but hot merchandise goes for a discount. Fortunately, Azz learned about the camo on the market and assumed correctly that it had been stolen. He bought the camo for 1.4m to keep it from being lost and planed to return it to the proper owner. I am happy to report that Azz was able to get the stolen camo charm back to Ginger.
Your clannie claims he didn’t know the camo was scammed until after he resold it. This seems implausible but let’s assume this is true. How did your clannie respond to the situation?
A) Take the money and run
B) Refund 400k so Azz takes a 1m gold loss but your clannie breaks even
C) Immediately refund the full purchase price to Azz thus taking responsibility for his mistake.
Your clannie decided to take the money and run. However, after a lot of public pressure (and whining on his part) he went with option B and refunded 400k. As the situation stands now, our Good Samaritan stands to lose 1m gold for doing the right thing and your clannie losses nothing except his reputation. Personally, I value my reputation more than 1m gold and would have gone for option C.
I am certainly not trying to tell you how to run your clan, but I strongly urge you to convince your clannie to give Azz the remaining 1m gold in an attempt to salvage his reputation. Failing that, you may consider reimbursing Azz as a clan. This will not help your clannie but would be very good PR for your clan.
Note to readers: The goal of this post is to right a wrong. Please do not name and shame the clannie or bash the Elixir clan. There are a lot of good people in Elixir and please don’t condemn a whole clan for the actions of one member. It is also possible that this was an honest mistake made by a naïve player.
Sure, blaming the victim is one approach. I was offering a solution that will begin repairing the reputation of your clannie. Right now, he is being called a scammer and reimbursing Azz could help prove that he isn't.Shouldn't gin be the one to repay azz? It was their own fault for letting themselves get scammed. You should only trust yourself in a virtual world. Gin's mistake caused this all. Im not saying Neek is not at fault for being in the middle of the transaction, someone else could have bought and it may never had gotten returned.
I agree your clannie didn't scam the charm. However, he made the mistake of purchasing an obviously stolen item. Who should pay for this mistake? The person who made the mistake or the person who tried to correct the mistake? My clannie didn't scam the charm. He didn't get it free. He already gave the profit to Azz. If he gave another 1 million to Azz, then wouldn't my clannie be the one that is out 1 million and not Azz? You said yourself that he paid 1 million for the charm...
My clannie didn't have to do anything. He was not the one who was scammed and he gave the profits back already. I actually would have thought that it would have been fairer if he had only gave back half, after all, he didn't actually do anything wrong, since he didn't know about the charm. And after all of the public shaming, instead of discussing things in private, he probably deserved it for his trouble.
If you guys want to make things right with Azz, then all of your clannies should chip in 50K each and make things right with him.
Unless I am missing something, our clan has already done our part.
I agree, the name calling should stop. As for "calling you out", please review my note to readers above. Hopefully, it is clear that that was not the intent of my post. I look forward to hearing Heli's position on the matter. The continued name calling by ppl is bordering on harassment now, and by picking on this clannie of ours, you guys are calling us all out.
Obvious to who? Your whole argument, weak as it is, rests with the idea that he knew it was stolen. However, he made the mistake of purchasing an obviously stolen item. Who should pay for this mistake? The person who made the mistake or the person who tried to correct the mistake?
Like Toy's post about our clan before, just saying that doesn't make it so...As for "calling you out", please review my note to readers above. Hopefully, it is clear that that was not the intent of my post.
If you agree on that point, people chipped in so that Azz didn't take the full 1 million hit, our clannie gave back the profit he got, and the original player got his charm back, then why are you guys still creating so much drama over this?I agree your clannie didn't scam the charm.
