A bitter truth

#1
Hello,

Just wanna let you know to be careful with some people being DM. A strange new rules are being applied.

I won an Aggy ring fairly in dicing but right after we diced the server disconnected us all for an update.

After I came back people diced for it again already. I was diced for and lost. Well, so far it was so-so but ok. The DM claimed that she saw no rolls at all. Even if there were witnesses that confirmed that I won before. But those were conveniently overheard. Strange, but let's go with it. People could have messaged me to come dicing again, but they did not claiming it would be impossible to get the original group of people to dice again. Even more strange, but I could live with that too.

But. And here comes the fun part. The person who won the second dicing was NOT even in the fight when the ring dropped. Surprised? I was. Some friendships are just over time and space and seems they are over rules, agreements, and fair play too.

No big deal to me, I will live. But if I am against some people being DM be sure I have a good reason for it.

The spirit of togetherness that we had for a short time in trying to get everyone their DL armour does seemed to have ended quickly.

Aggy was killed after an update this morning. Was there more than one aggy fight or update this morning? I had to leave after the fight about two hours ago, so wasn't even there for dicing (all ranger drops I heard)...

I was at first fight, and to my knowledge we had started the dicing but not all had diced when server went down. I wasn't at second fight. But i do agree would be hard to get original people back. My dice suck anyway. Sorry the world went down too quickly.

So I guess the person who won the ring just wasn't at both fights, and maybe won a ring from the aggy fight that he/she was at...

Too bad OTM didn't give any notice that the server was going down...

I was at first aggy fight before server went down bj decided to have ranger brace fry won godly ring then ppl started to dice for last ranger ring didnt see to much of that dicing before server went down was all a mad rush so could not be certain who won i suppose thats the chance you take fighting bosses before server disconnects:/

Kind of weird that the second aggy dropped exactly the same things...

Maybe that is where some of the confusion is coming that "the person who won the second dicing was NOT even in the fight when the ring dropped."

Basically what happened was that the server (as warned by OTM, so we were prepared) came down before the winner of the last dice was declared. I always open the chat window to follow dicing, and saw plenty of dice rolls, with Toys roll of 80 as highest. As I prepared to write "grats toy" the server went down.

After server came up and aggy was killed for the second time within hours, DM from previous session came in and declared that the dicing would include the last drop from that session. I raised my voice and objected that Toy had won the last dice before taketown, but this was countered with "not all players diced before takedown", and also that the DM had not seen the rolls. I again objected, that not all players at the previous fight would be able to dice now either, as not all were present, but this argument was ignored.

Kaila supported the argument that Toy had already won.

After all drops from the second aggy fight were diced, the ring from previous fight was put out for dicing, and surprisingly, all present at second aggy fight were now apparently allowed to dice for the ring (I even believe that I saw that the DM, who had already won a drop from the first fight, diced again for the ring from the first fight). I myself had diced for the ring once before and lost, and had just won a drop from the second aggy fight, was quite bewildered as to whether I was supposed to dice or not. It turned out that a player not present at the fight where the item dropped won the item, and someone questioned this, but this again was met with two in my opinion strange arguments:
1. an identical item had been dropped also in the second fight, so this ring could actually be a drop from the last fight, and
2. there is no perfect way of handling the situation

My impression over all is that a decision had been made and any arguments were overlooked or ignored.

To summarize, I found the chosen solution to be unwise.

Hmm something similar happened to me, we were dicing in the arena. We all rolled for a rogue brace, it was pretty slow as people weren't sure whether or not to dice but all rogues finally diced. Once they learned I won it was calle for a re-roll because the rogues 'didn't hear' the dm which is strange since they all rolled. I literally was about to accept the trade and it was cancelled and re-rolled for and I lost. Oh well, stuff happens.

we give the DM a lot of power and control. i have noticed lately that people clamor for a fairly short list of people as DM (esp at hrung fights) - presumably ones they trust. earlier, lots of people took turns at being DM. Just and observation that supports this thread. It is a shame, but we are still better off than we were in update 2.

I would vote for a very short list of people being DM...Not that I ever have been in a fight that requires dicing, but if the day ever comes, I would like only a few trusted people to be DM, not some level 170 that ive said "hi" to three times.
