Everything you said does hold true for lower level druids... But this is complete nonsense as far as higher level/endgame druids go. If someone looks at playing in the endgame as a druid I, as an endgame druid, will tell you that meditate and energy harvest are absolute $#|7 for an end game druid. Energy Harvest and Meditate will not be enough to help you as much as this poster thinks. A level 49/50 energy harvest absorbs 850 energy while costing 250 energy to cast gaining you only 600 energy with a 30 second cooldown... Yea thats totally worth 40 skill points and gear slots.
Given the cost of our skills its nowhere near possible to keep up our energy with harvest. Oh yeah there's meditate! Are you serious? I dont know what the total energy regen of a level 50 meditate is but I do know that with my around 600 energy sigils, its not enough to keep up with any of my possible builds regardless of dps, support, or solo. Yea I can sit around doing nothing during a boss fight or during a lix, which is almost necessary at high levels, so I can get a few ticks from my level 50 meditate

or sigils but that denies me of necessary kills on lixes or prevents me from casting bark on a rogue helping him against aoe's. Or casting that big breath to help heal everyone after said big aoe. I'd love to cast embrace to help heal that person but need to let sigils kick in... Or meditate...
Also as far as not maxing skills... Im guessing you've never had to heal through these endgame dragonlord, hrungnir, or mordris fights... Yea, not maxed heals and buffs won't cut it.
I think you are miss-understanding it.
First of all, I too have played end-game Druid and know all about it. I had 300 sigles, offhand focus, tailsman, and that's was all my regens. How did I manage? Well first of all since I was mostly focus, meditate was actualy worth casting even at level 1. You MINES WELL take it, it's extra regen. But on top of that I used heroic energy lix. Heroic energy lix will solve energy issues easily and cheaply along with some sigles and lux, you don't even need 300 sigles like I had.
I'm sorry but if you're gunna play Druid seriously you gotta be serious with it. Buy sigles in-game if you don't got money for plat. Stock up on energy lix, like rogues do with hastes.
Second, sigles and meditate work out of combat. If your healing THEY STILL WORK as long as your not attacking (you shouldn't be). So while your spending energy your also GAINING it back.
And to conclude, you say energy gaining skills aren't worth the skill points. If you don't got money to spend, YOU HAVE TO USE THEM. OTM provided you with these skills for a reason. It's up to you how you wanna play.
Please also note there are other Druids besides you. You don't need to be the best, one could handle embrace if you require meditate.
I don't think OTM should change much with the classes but rather with the in-game items and lux, as usual I guess.
