Re: A discussion about religion

I have read about 5 posts of the hundreds here and I'll ignore all that and post my usual questions (dunno if they've been asked but on well :) )

In the bible, book Job(s?), God tells Satan, as part of a deal they were making, he can do anything he wants to jobs family as long as job himself is not harmed, this is the only record in the bible that lucifer, satan, whatever you like, has killed someone (Job's 7 sons and 3 daughters). While God basically gave his adversary permission to harm innocent people over the bet that Jobs will remain loyal to God even if he looses everything. Whereas god has killed roughly as little as 2.8 million and as much as 33 million in the bible and somewhat proud about it. Some reasons even defy the original testaments like "Onan for spilling his seed- Gen.38:10" "God sent a lion to eat a man for not killing a prophet- 1 Kg.20:35-36" and the best one "Religious leaders killed in prayer contest- 1 Kg.18:22-40"

Course, the most contraversial question: is it adam and eve's fault for eating the fruit if they did not know what was right or wrong? Take into consideration that lucifer gave Adam and Eve the knowledge of judgement when they ate the fruit, and all they knew was God told them one thing, and some snake told them that it would be all right to disobey him, they could not judge since God basically had them as dolls who couldn't think for themselves.

Lastly, why is it that everything is blamed on lucifer when something bad happens or that everyone NEEDS to be converted over to Christianity because Islam isn't good enough for God? For being the most popular religion in the world, a lot of Christians are very very close minded when it comes to other religions, why is it that the majority of people believe that satanists are evil and do rituals and sacrifice goats when reality, some cults that are based upon the bible (both new and Old Testament) will sacrifice innocent lives a few days before the day of the birth of Jesus, because they wait for his flesh to be reborn again (gfs mom is a religious person whom is one of the few people i know who watches the news and is very aware of everything that happens with religions)

Honestly, homosexuals aren't going to be denied into heaven because they decided their soul mate was a person of the same sex, lucifer shouldn't be blamed for all the worlds suffering if God himself has the power to stop it all, and a Jew shouldn't be hated for Jesus dying over 2000 years ago when Jesus himself could have avoided it. It's the last supper for a reason, he planned on sacrificing himself over his own reasons, no one should be having the blame over it.

Think that covers 60% of what the posts mention, personally if anyone wants to know, I believe that God exists, and that heaven and hell is just a figure of speech to him, hell can always be being stuck to your body and being alone for thousands of years, heaven can be getting to keep living in the mind of your soul, where you can dream of anything and you'll have it. And as for ideals, I'm very tolerable of an atheist because he has his own version of God, someone who doesn't want to be involved with him, and such. Hope you have fun arguing my points as I look forward to all the analogies and metaphors that religion is infamous for :3

And here's a story that really makes you think about what is a lie and what is the hidden truth that no one wants to adhere by.

In 1983, a team of deeply pious scientists conducted a radical experiment in an undisclosed facility. The scientists had theorized that a human without access to any senses or ways to perceive stimuli would be able to perceive the presence of God. They believed that the five senses clouded our awareness of eternity, and without them, a human could actually establish contact with God by thought. An elderly man who claimed to have “nothing to left to live for” was the only test subject to volunteer. To purge him of all his senses, the scientists performed a complex operation in which every sensory nerve connection to the brain was surgically severed. Although the test subject retained full muscular function, he could not see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. With no possible way to communicate with or even sense the outside world, he was alone with his thoughts.

Scientists monitored him as he spoke aloud about his state of mind in jumbled, slurred sentences that he couldn’t even hear. After four days, the man claimed to be hearing hushed, unintelligible voices in his head. Assuming it was an onset of psychosis, the scientists paid little attention to the man’s concerns.

Two days later, the man cried that he could hear his dead wife speaking with him, and even more, he could communicate back. The scientists were intrigued, but were not convinced until the subject started naming dead relatives of the scientists. He repeated personal information to the scientists that only their dead spouses and parents would have known. At this point, a sizable portion of scientists left the study.

After a week of conversing with the deceased through his thoughts, the subject became distressed, saying the voices were overwhelming. In every waking moment, his consciousness was bombarded by hundreds of voices that refused to leave him alone. He frequently threw himself against the wall, trying to elicit a pain response. He begged the scientists for sedatives, so he could escape the voices by sleeping. This tactic worked for three days, until he started having severe night terrors. The subject repeatedly said that he could see and hear the deceased in his dreams.

Only a day later, the subject began to scream and claw at his nonfunctional eyes, hoping to sense something in the physical world. The hysterical subject now said the voices of the dead were deafening and hostile, speaking of hell and the end of the world. At one point, he yelled “No heaven, no forgiveness” for five hours straight. He continually begged to be killed, but the scientists were convinced that he was close to establishing contact with God.

After another day, the subject could no longer form coherent sentences. Seemingly mad, he started to bite off chunks of flesh from his arm. The scientists rushed into the test chamber and restrained him to a table so he could not kill himself. After a few hours of being tied down, the subject halted his struggling and screaming. He stared blankly at the ceiling as teardrops silently streaked across his face. For two weeks, the subject had to be manually rehydrated due to the constant crying. Eventually, he turned his head and, despite his blindness, made focused eye contact with a scientist for the first time in the study. He whispered “I have spoken with God, and he has abandoned us” and his vital signs stopped. There was no apparent cause of death.

If he lost all senses how could he move his mouth and speak words, having no sense of touch/feel means u can't speak??

Wow. I must compliment you on bringing crazy to a crazy fight. Too many use logic - a recipe for instafail.

Of all the posts on the web about this failed script submission i find this one the most insightful:

It reads exactly like an internet hoax.

VaughnMH1960 wrote:
In 1983, a team of deeply pious scientists conducted a radical experiment in an undisclosed facility.

So, mad scientists in a secret laboratory.

To purge him of all his senses, the scientists performed a complex operation....

...which isn't even possible.

Assuming it was an onset of psychosis, the scientists paid little attention to the man’s concerns.

They wanted to know what he sensed, but then paid little attention to it.

The scientists were intrigued, but were not convinced until the subject started naming dead relatives of the scientists.

"I'm not convinced we're getting results. Oh wait, he mentioned my mommy!"

At this point, a sizable portion of scientists left the study.

"Hooray! We're getting results at last! We'll, results don't really interest me, so I'm outta here."

He frequently threw himself against the wall, trying to elicit a pain response.

But his sensory inputs have been magically severed by an impossible surgical procedure, how could he know he was throwing himself against a wall?

Why oh why do religious scientists always forget to tie down their patients!

...the subject began to scream and claw at his non-functional eyes, hoping to sense something in the physical world.

So, still no straps, huh? What lousy scientists, who know how to perform impossible surgery but don't know how to restrain their patients.

He continually begged to be killed, but the scientists were convinced that he was close to establishing contact with God.

Yeah, 'cause anytime someone begs to die, I assume it's because he's getting really close to God.

Seemingly mad, he started to bite off chunks of flesh from his arm.

Seriously, no rope? No handcuffs? Not even a couple of burly lab assistants to hold him down?

The scientists rushed into the test chamber and restrained him to a table so he could not kill himself. After a few hours of being tied down, the subject halted his struggling and screaming.

Ohhh, NOW they figure out how to restrain him!

For two weeks, the subject had to be manually rehydrated due to the constant crying.

"Manually rehydrated?" What, with a bicycle pump or something?

There was no apparent cause of death.

Well, I could come up with a few suggestions!

This is so clearly a hoax, I don't know what else to do but laugh and sadly shake my head.

All those people were punished, not because what they did was traditionally sin(, but because they directly disobeyed God. Adam and Eve for instance were told not to eat the fruit or they would de. Plain and simple. But yet they ate it anyway. If you had put these verses in context you would have seen this. As for job that was a test of his faithfulness for god and satan. When he passed he was rewarded. Satan tempts us to do sin. Whether we say yes or not is our problem. Jesus died so that we could live in heaven. Not all will go to heaven. If you do not have faith in Jesus Christ and do not believe in Him, then you will go to hell. I don't think that being a homosexual will disqualify you from heaven, i just think that it shows a rebellion against God that means you are not a Christian. There may be homosexuals that will go to heaven because they are Christians and honestly don't knw that the bible says homosexuality is sin, but there are not many will. Also, theere is nowhere in the bible in which it says that hell or heaven is a state of mind. He'll is a literal physical place. And so is heaven. I do not like satan because he tempts people. But it is us that do the sinning. And also when people defie god, they will be punished.

As for ur other statement, if the story was even true(many holes have been pointed out by plus3) i personally(from what it sounds like) that man was demon possessed. In that state would he be expected to say anything good about God?

The fact is homosexuals no more pick what sex interests them than heterosexuals. So god made these men love other men sexually, then watches them squirm as they try not to do what god made them as? Sounds like how disturbed people play simcity. Some god lol.

Also why didn't you answer the logical point of "without knowledge of good or evil" how did eve know that it was wrong to listen to gods creation - the snake? Wasnt that listening to god as only god makes magical talking animals? How was eve to even know with the compromised brain god made her with?

Just one quick thing. Vraelen u said that u believed in ordered chaos. Ordered chaos? That sounds a little contradictory. How cn chaos be ordered? Chaos means, well, confusion and well a lot of other things. Chaos is not ordered. When an office is on fire usually everyone runs around screaming and panicking. This is chaos. As far as i knw i have never seen things being chaotic in an orderly way. Just sayin.

*give me an example outside evolution in which there was orderly chaos.
It is an oxymoron, I know. I say "ordered chaos" for lack of a better term/phrase. There is a clear level of organisation present in the universe but at the same time, there is also a clear abundance of chaos. I do not know how to explain this combination but the fact is, almost everything we study is both chaotic and ordered. Thus, we exist in an ordered chaos.

An easy to understand example would be digestion. We break down food, which creates disorder, only to later absorb and reconfigure the material to suit our needs. The digestion of food, whilst immediately creating chaos, brings about a greater order necessary for our survival. I hope this idea makes sense. I will try to think of another "common" example if need be.

I did answer it. God told them they would die if they ate fruit off that tree. They understood that. And yet they still disobeyed. They may not have known it was "sin" but they knew that there would be consequences for disobeying.

Maybe you could argue that(stomach example). But you could also argue that it is all part of an orderly system created by God. This, in my opinion, makes more sense.

I did answer it. God told them they would die if they ate fruit off that tree. They understood that. And yet they still disobeyed. They may not have known it was "sin" but they knew that there would be consequences for disobeying.
First off who is they? Adam did nothing wrong in your mysogenistic story. Second while they may have understood the words how was eve to know it was evil or wrong? How would she know disobeying what was said by god one minute, and gods creation the next was evil or wrong? You just answered by 'they understood that'' but the evidence is that they were not given that rational functionality as the story itself states.

Moreover without knowledge of good or evil it's a wonder Adam didn't simply bash eve's skull open for snoring. Afterall no knowledge right? Today we call that lack of knowledge being sociopathic.

Congrats at not replying on the homosexual bigot comment you made. I dare you to reason yourself out of its absurdity.
