As far as Adam and Eve eating the fruit: According to the Bible, yes, they knew it was wrong. They were not a pair of unintelligent babies, they had minds that worked perfectly and they were able to use their mind's full potential. They were many times more brilliant than anyone living on the earth today. Lucifer tempted Eve by telling her she could become a god. She ate the fruit because she wanted to be God. This is the very sin that caused Lucifer to fall. Adam is no less guilty. The Bible very clearly states that Eve gave the fruit to her husband who was with her. Adam was standing right there while Eve was being tempted and he did nothing to stop it. They both knew full well they were disobeying.
