Firstly, I should confess that I do not play a druid as a main, and in so much as I am a novice regarding the class, I apologise in advance if this suggestion is in anyway naive.
Since many druids appear split on whether or not an instant cast nature's touch would overpowered, I was wondering whether a decent alternative might be an instant cast shield of bark instead.
The reason I say this is two fold... For one thing, in a drawn out battle, to be unable to get off a heal is quite unfortunate, but to lose the ability to reduce the damage is an absolute disaster. The other point I would make, is it may also help to conserve a tiny amount of druid's energy. A drop in the ocean, I confess, but every little helps.
Because the recast cool-down time is so much shorter than the duration (as well it should be), the temptation can be to cast it more than is needed and simply to avoid it expiring at an in opportune time. If it were instant cast, then druids could perhaps afford to be more frugal with it when soloing, and thus save some unnecessary energy consumption in the process.
