Repercussions for Scamming Users
Whilst all trades between users are final, and traded items or gold will not be returned, this does not mean that scamming will not be acted on. Scamming is not tolerated and this policy cannot be used as a defence by players who engage in scamming.
Any user found to be scamming other players will be subject to the Celtic Heroes Disciplinary Procedure.
This is on the Celtic heroes website....scammers are never acted on.... :/
Re: really...
#2I can see the argument from both sides, so I will take the other position to stimulate debate about the subject.
Scamming is wrong, and should be acted on, but there is a reason that I feel OTM has adopted this policy:
1) What constutes a scam?
There is legitimate scamming that is done, but sometimes what one person thinks is a scam is not actually a scam. It may just be that a person made a bad trade, and realized it too late. OTM should not be in the business of micromanaging all trades when a person makes a mistake on their own. It would upset the player base if OTM went back and reversed every trade that was deemed unfair to one party.
2) OTM doesn't have the staff
There are thousands of trades done every day across every server. OTM does not have the manpower available to monitor every trade and make a decision about it. If you think that OTM's ticket response time is slow now, adding in this duty would cripple their customer service.
3) How do you apply a uniform standard to scamming responses?
What is done for one person, must be done for all. Otherwise OTM would be seen as choosing sides and picking favorites. If OTM intervened in one trade, they would need to intervene in every trade. Otherwise someone could make the assumption that OTM liked one person more than another, or that they liked one clan more than another, etc. There is no way to uniformly monitor all trades, so OTM has made the decision to say that all trades are final.
4) Trades are complicated
If an item is scammed from one person, it may be immediately sold to another person, and then traded to an alt, and then sold again. How do you reverse all of these actions? The final buyer doesn't know the item was scammed, so they would see it as OTM stealing an item from them if they reversed all those trades.
5) Reporting false scams
If OTM took the time to intervene in scamming trades, there would be a huge increase in people reporting others for scamming, when in fact no scam took place. If Bobo4678 wanted to get Tikkaman15677 banned, he could report to OTM that Tikka scammed him and OTM would have to look into it because they would at this point reviewing all trades. Tikka would hear about this, and lie to OTM that Bobo had scammed him. IT would be a huge mess and it would draw OTM support into a server's everyday drama.

Re: really...
#3Well what IS scamming really?
Besides dicing for gold and keeping the gold if the other wins, don't really see how people somehow claim "I lost everything"
Course selling and trading accs shouldn't even be considered, if your seriously going to complain about loosing everything because you gave your pass away... you shouldn't even be mentioning tickets "do not share your password with anyone".

Re: really...
#4I see how it's hard to find out if someone really is scamming, but when someone has been around for ages scamming along, you'd think OTM would take a hint from the hundreds of reports. The way I see it, scammers make OTM money. When one scams another, the victim feels inclined to buy plat to get back to the top. Therefore OTM supports scammers. I knew a guy who scammed 25mil and there was proof against him, but after 3 days of him being disabled, he was re-enabled while I, and a few others, have been disabled for months without even a reply. Explain that OTM.
