Is there a guide somewhere regarding ranger weapons and where to buy/farm them? So far I was able to buy one in the tombs in the graveyard which seems solid. After reading all of the scammer posts I don't think I will buy from a player any time soon though.

The war bow is pretty good for your level.
Maybe later you can buy a crafted warbow or warbow of the sun (with heat bonus).
Or you can go directly to ancient bows, i recomend to buy the ancient longbow first and skip the shortbow.
About the scamming thing, just be aware, and make them accept first

Where can I buy the Ancient Longbow and how much do I need to save?

You can buy the ancient longbow by the trader Ashlen MacCroin in shalemont ravine, close to the entrance.
The bow cost 5328 gold.

Before you can enter that trader you have to do a quest, not very hard, but not easy though.

On which server are you? Im on Lugh and have an ancient longbow for sale.

I have made Sulis my home so I guess I'll have to be patient and train and quest to get the bow. Luckily I love killing mobs over and over while I watch movies=) I'll get one eventually.

lol you need to get war bow of the sun because its damage when stacked is more than anc longbow. they are rarer but cheaper, and its the one i use at the moment, 31 pierce and 6 heat, plus 4 pierce from my quiver of farsight.

What level do I need to be to do the quest to be able to buy that ancient bow?

My recommendation is dont buy until you get the ancient warbow. No reason in wasting money. Only pay for items you will keep...unless a player has a deal you cant refuse.

As for the quest. The medical kits going to both sides of Shalemont is what activates the vendor. The one to the East? is the easy one just run up the rock hill and follow it along the curve. The one to Greygorge is harder since it is a run through heavy hitters. I would get a high lvl friend and follow him to that location. I use a leystone to get back since running back to camp can be difficult.

It was very helpful indeed Smoke, thank you! I did the quest to open up the vendor and am now grinding away on the 40 ish mobs around the lake. Reading how useful Bolas was maxed out was one thing, using a maxed out Bolas is even better!
