Warrior 7 Category Priority List Question

#1
Before I begin, I would like to acknowledge my appreciation of information provided by regular posters such as Deathreaver, Woox, Criminal and SirBlaze and countless others. I aim this post to ask for concrete information to find the priorities of Warriors in creating their builds and gear and taunt skill.

Prior posts have been something like this,

Hi I am lvl 90 warrior, whats the best build for soloing, tanking, dps, etc

Hi I am 167 Warrior, whats best offhand? magic, cold or fire?

Before I begin, let me say that this is NOT one of those as those are egocentric, only help one person and you get overlapping opinions that can lead to near trolling and hazing and e peen "My toon is more better than your toon" contest. I am trying to avoid this tangent as I have seen this ruin other threads

So, let me reveal my goal here,

This is asking experienced warriors what are your priorities for your toon in regards to some categories that I will flesh out and name 7 areas.

In short, my own attribute priorities are for solo build that leans towards defensive build, so when I boss I can eventually end up holding agro after dps has died and make the life of the healer easier.

So what do I mean about attributes, let me name them here and then give u my categories.

Paraphrase from SirBlaze posts

[
b]Stats[/b]
Health: This stat is what depletes as you take damage. The more you have, the more damage you can take.
Energy: This stat is what depletes as you use skills.
Attack: This wont help you tank, it just allows you to accurately hit more often.
Defense: This stat allows you to dodge/block more often
Damage: This wont help you tank, it just allows you hit harder
Armor: This stat reduces incoming damage (Slash, Crush, and Pierce)
Abilities
There are currently 6 abilities that directly effect tanking. They are:
Melee: This ability increases the effectiveness of most of your skills
Fortitude: This ability allows you to dodge incoming physical attack skills
Warding: This ability allows you to dodge incoming magic attack skills
Willpower: This ability allows you to dodge incoming weakening attack skills
Reflex: This ability allows you to dodge incoming movement attack skills
Vigour: This ability allows you to dodge incoming wounding attack skills
I am going to add "Evasions" and " Resists" to this list to bulk Ability and Gear attributes

So here is how I am asking one to answer this, in list form in grouping categories because to ask to order the entire list would be difficult, but if anyone has the time, please feel free. to make it easier here are the categories

7 Categories

HEALTH / DEFENSE/ ARMOUR/ DAMAGE /RESISTS/ EVASION/ ENERGY

To add

What is your Tank objective (Hybrid, DPS, Full Tank)

The reason why I chose these attributes is because it answers the questions of builds AND gear and lux items to buy at the same time. It also avoids the topic of builds and skills, although I do have one basic skill question about taunt.

I am asking you to make a list naming those categories from 1 to 7 on what you believe is most important for your Warrior, and what category you are in and one question of how many skill points u have in taunt. Here is an example of 2 answers.

Example 1

Warrior Type: Hybrid
Taunt skill: 0
STAT PRIORITY
1. Health
2. Resist
3. Energy
4. Damage
5. Armour
6. Defense
7. Evasions

Example 2

Warrior Type: Tank
Taunt skill 16
1. Health
2. Resists
3. Armour
4. Defense
5. Energy
6. Evasions
7. Damage

I really hope this makes sense and I can gain some information. Lastly, I want to say thank you in advance. I also avoided the topic of lvl in order to make this applicable to all warriors in early or veteran stages.

This is not my current build but I'll use it as soon as I get my DL chest.
taunt skill: 50
1. Health
2. Armour
3. Evasion (all evasion. That means skill and auto so this includes defence)
4. Energy
5. Resist
6. Damage
Thank you so much Ezekiell, this is extremely enlightening to me.

I can nearly visualize the beastliness of this list in action, in the series of these events

1. Commanding and domineering agro from taunt skill immediately causing the DPS the ability to blow their assault on mob
2. The real estate of hit points causing the Healers to set up there heals, change their rings, even if you "Leeroy Jenkins" the mob before they are ready
3. Evasion sets in to account for the onslaught of spells thrown on this warrior, since agro is so absolute
4. Amount of focus, to cycle through shatter and then 10 second combo (I use G. swing, Sweep, Double, Pummel) etc
5. Lower resists, but evasions causing them to miss entirely
6. Lower damage, yet damage is not needed due to taunt being so absolute

This is what I anticipated being a Tank, yet when I asked warriors what 100 plus Lux bracer to buy, the Evasion 350 one or the Bracer of Constitution one with all the resists, most everyone said resist bracer, which I thought was odd. heck, I feeling like luxing now to reflect this list : )

In closing , again Thank you Ezekiell, you have provide a great template for the would be tank. It will be interesting to find out how others perceive the best priority list. /salute

im usually hybrid so

taunt skill : 1 (no 0 on skills)
1. health
2. energy
3. damage
4. armour
5. evasions (including defence)
6. resists
7. attack

a bit weird that no one included armour, armour is the most defensive stat, reducing all non elemental dmg taken, evasions for all skills and defence for all melee, and resists for elemental dmg

Before I list any priorities, let's make it clear that as low on the priority list an attribute is, it doesn't necissarily rank lower by any more than a margin. Also, the priorities change when you assume a minimum set amount of each attribute, almost capping some while continually increasing others. Such an example would be having 9k health; 10k health wont make you any better, yet 6k won't be enough (end game example). Another example is when an attribute's effect begins to plateau. So as you can see, priorities can shift. And as you can guess, this is general because when it comes to different mobs and bosses, top attributes may drop to last and vise versa.

Tank Attibute Priorities:
1. Health
You need enough health to take a hit, survive, and benefit from multiple druid heals by not getting over-healed. No matter how much you reduce your damage intake, bosses will still manage to hit hard through both, multiple auto attacks and hard hitting skills. With a bit of bad luck, some extra health is all you need.
2. Armour
A majority if not all bosses have high physical damage attacks. What separates warriors from any other class when it comes to tanking is armour. This is your main and most reliable damage suppresser; you are garenteed a damage reduction on all incoming physical-damage hits.
3. Defense
With a little but of luck, you can totally avoid a hit that has the potential to significantly lower your health. With a long enough duration, all those hits you avoid will really add up to something scary. Not many are fans of defense but I for one love dodging 3 hits in a row from mordris. That's over 4.5k damage dodged in just seconds!
4. Evasions
The hardest of all attacks are skills. Like defense, you have a higher chance at evading a skill as your evasions increase. You don't need another druid, you just need to avoid the damage in the first place.
5. Resistances
Armour also falls under this attribute as it's consisted of 3. Assuming you mean elemental resistances, this is just as important. However, I have ranked resistances as #5 on the list because elemental damage isn't as common or significant as physical damage. That being said, it's not far behind.
6. Energy
Energy isn't much of a priority for this role. You jut need enough to cast a few skills; the rest is all regen and skill spam control
7. Damage
If you're going tank, damage is none of your concern ;)

type: hybrid leaning toward tank, but hoping to get enough dps so that i dont become a slug in leveling
taunt - 1
not good for people who havent hit the level max/close to level max to put anything in taunt unless you fancy tanking minibosses like atrisal
put it into more constructive skills that will speedy your leveling and actually help out
(even if you always always group level....a decent dps (possibly even dpses) combined with your efforts will be able to kill the mob in a few seconds so taunt still shouldnt even matter because the mob will dish out such little damage it wont even matter if you taunt)

1. health
2. armor
3. damage
4. attack (included this just cuz)
5. energy (idk where to put this...its important but i just need enough to sustain 15 mins of leveling/hard boss fight)
6. evasions
7. defense
8. resist

i noticed that defense is very hard to increase without defensive form which i am using as the place to dump my extra skill points
evasions is low because honestly i dont really see much difference in evades when i use enduring guard against someone like bonehead
if it worked often though then i would definitely use it as skills hit hard and evading is important
resisting elemental dmg is lowest because enemies dish out the least elemental dmg out of their whole dmg (except casters obviously but as far as i know theres very few of those)
attack is high for me because you cant level without hitting someone haha
damage same reason as attack...i dont wanna be hitting 50 dmg a hit
health obviously most important for reasons i will not bother to explain

EDIT i will bother to explain
no health = already dead

Hybrid with Tank stats but DPS skills
1 Taunt
Health - Surviving is everything in solo lvling
Armor - reduces "un-magic" damage greatly
Damage - needed for solo lvling
Attack - u kind of need to be able to hit stuff
Defense - it's nice to be able to dodge and block
Evasions - are fantastic but not as great as other stuff
Energy - skills aren't always necessary and I'm already relying on damage
Resist - because what is it good for? Absolutely nothing... alright well maybe a little useful

OP

Usual good posts from Criminal Ezekiell and SirBlaze and they have covered off most of the key areas for a warrior. I tend to focus on tank skills and would agree with Ezekiell and SirBlaze order of abilities. You got to have high health once you start taking on the main bosses who are doing 2k+ dmg with skills. Armour evasions and defence will keep you in the game if you have good healz behind you. Only point I would emphasise about a warrior is that your role - imho - is to hold aggro. You can't out dps the mages and rogues so you got to be able to hold aggro from the boss. Even when I re-spec my warrior to full dps and stick all my dmg gear on, I am still not doing the skills dmg that my 130 rogue or 140 mage does. Anyway, great post, thanks.
