So I have destroyed a few snowmen and gotten the following snowballs:
12 fluffy, 4 well-packed, 2 frosty, and a frozen. My questions are as follows:
Are they good for anything other than collecting? Are people willing to buy these sorts of things after the event ends? If so how much are they worth? Also, what are the various types and their effects, and how many have you collected? Thanks.

they are for the candy cane quest. they will return next year (maybe) so nobody will buy em.

Candy canes usually suck imo and level cap just makes it a joke to use one at lvl 100 unless its just for looking cool and hip

suggest just getting presents for diadems instead :p

Last years snowballs worked for this years quest. I made well over 100k selling them in the first few days alone as I had several thousand saved. So they were good for something and many be good again. Digital hoarding pays off in mmos.

Some extremely rare snowballs do good cold damage but are so rare and one use they are good for nothin really.

Just gonna save em for something special then.

I believe the snowballs (as the summerspark scrolls were) are good at interrupting heals of mobs. I personally carry about 100 scrolls on me at all times in case I come up against falgren, that 150 6* bear, or any other healing mob.

They might come back in the next Yuletide event and snowballs do not have the year in description.
