Mass Effect 3: Discussion without spoilers

#1
Yeah so, I finished it. Beat the game, trilogy etc.

I feel like, in a past year where so many great RPG's (Skyrim, Dragon Age 2, Amalur) were released...probably the last thing I personally wanted to delve into was something as epically grandiose as Mass Effect 3...but just like psycho chicks; I have no idea what's good for me.

What a freaking game. Like I was blown away by Skyrim, but I was rearranged by the scope of this game. And mostly because of the choice-webs. How the gameplay of the 3rd installment is so varied depending on your choices in the first 2 game's. And how you honestly, after 3 games...care. I know its cheezy, but i was like kinda emotionally moved by the denouement of some of these characters. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know...I just wanted to chime in and express my utter awe.

Last note: the cinematic raw footage of the last space battle after you assemble your fleet and see it fight off against the Reapers has to be the most impressive SCI-FI cinema I have ever seen including BSG, and anime. Just like jaw dropping cut scenes of riddiculous animation.

So yeah, I'm gonna go cook something and wonder how I let my life go astray while people sound their time making game's like this for a living.

Chime in if yer a Mass Effect fan, or have any comments about the trilogy or end of the series.

I LOVE the Mass Effect series, though I have yet to pick up 3.

Tea, you hit the nail on the head regarding the story lines. The Mass Effect series is probably the only RPG that I've played where I found myself slipping completely into the arcs. Some of the decisions I had to make in the first two were difficult and I found myself thinking about them even after the game was off. What was also interesting was my inability to create a "bad guy" alt once I beat the game the first time. I just couldn't bring myself to the point where I was calloused enough to be a douche to the characters I had been helping during my first run through. PARAGON ALL THE WAY FOR THIS CAREBEAR!

What that means to me is that the designers of this game did an amazing job of making the experience personal. A feat that I can say few games can boast.

Hey Tea, you haven't player RPG IF you haven't played Dark Souls....

once you buy it and play it, you will thank me for telling you trollolol

every single moment you play Dark Souls, you can not mock about, you must always have your weapons at the ready or else you will die, don't get me wrong, you WILL die alot, no matter what you do, you will DIE! it's that hard!!!

Skyrim, Skyrim is just another RPG that went hard out with detail... it's for kids LMAO

when you kill a boss in Dark Souls, the relief is the same feeling you will feel when you finished an RPG game.

Sounds unreal? try it :)

if you don't like it i will give you my account on celtic heroes!

NOT!

I have played Dark Souls.. It's a great great RPG. So tough that I agree, it's like to beat a freaking basic mob it takes real savvy... And you hafta be constantly situationally aware so you don't dive roll backwards off a freaking cliff!!!

It's a solid game, I think facing the drake and bull demons on that wall was super terrifying and incredible when I won. I never beat the game, but I played like 30 hours of misery, loving every minute if it.

I think I went sorcerer and some ranger/archer class the most. Super fun!

The thing about Dark Souls is it's all gameplay... And I love gameplay, but Mass Effect 3 is all story and it tempers the fun gameplay, like when they tell me I gotta hurry I hurry frantically, when I look back now and realize..why was I hurrying? There wasn't any timer... Like the FPS gets better every installment and the multiplayer co-op of this version certainly is incredible. But the story, the characters and the personalization of the RolePlaying is amazing.

Dark Souls is fantastic, but you never feel like it matters that yer a hallowed undead wandering the earth, I mean it's an incredible game and it interacts with your manual dexterity and your intellectual savvy, but not your heart. And you know it's cheesy, but to me that separates it from a 4.5/5 star game to a 5/5 star game. Both are exceptional, but ME3 captured my emotions, and that's super rare.
