Re: Howling Wind.

Hi,

Ive been using howling wind for awhile now and it is definitely one of my fav skills. After reading some of the posts I did question whether it actually does anything but after extensive use on many different types of enemies I can say for sure that it does exactly what is described to do. My best example would be my use on kiara in the combs. I attempted soloing kiara and with my howling wind inflicted on her she was not able to hit me at all. As soon as it wore off she began striking me again. My skill at the time of this attempt was 11/15. On other higher lvl enemies it gives me the extra time i need to cast other spells on them and to heal myself allowing me to be more of a dps druid than a tank druid. The result being I can kill more enemies faster allowing me to lvl up faster than a druid more set up to be a tank. As for the mob dmg complaint, after casting this skill on them i have seen there dmg go up slightly on some hits but also drop on others.
Tickler - Druid lvl 114
Toasty - Mage lvl 80
Doomed - Warrior lvl 80
Depper - Ranger lvl 80
Nukem - Rogue lvl 72

No offence nod but you must be stupid to think it would ever lower the dammage.

Howling wind is said to lower the targets Attack (The chance of hitting you successful) But if you wish to reverse it.. it technicaly raises your defense (The chance of dodging the attack made by the mob) Either way can be used to interpret the skill. I preferably use the defense way as it is more easier to comprehend for me....

So the dammage of what the mob is dealing is its normal dammage.... Howling just lowers the chance it succesfuly hits

So if I have or a tank has 200 defense... I cast howling on the mob and for me I pretend it raises my defense by 500 or the tanks by 500 but really it would lower the mobs attack by 500 so your mobs dammage is completely opposite of attack.

Thanks for reading..

If you still dont understand my way just stick with this

A mob has 1000 attack (not the dammage it does) You cast howling on the mob (howling is 500) The mobs attack (not dammage) is lowered by 500 thus making it 500 attack and not 1000. This reduces the chance the mob can sucessfuly hit you thus resulting in possible "Dodge" "Perry" and "Miss".....

Well thats it

I never said it was supposed to lower the damage my words were it seams to increase the damage sightly and slow the target but is not doing what its descriptions says.

Your reading into my post and its proven that howling wind is and seams as though it always will be a waste of skill points.

This post is extremely old why must people bring back dead threads move on everyone else has.

This is actually not true. Have you ever tested the DMG done to you?

Pick a catacombs boss, and either time or count 15 DMG hits, a DMG hit counts as any red letter text, including MISS, BLOCK, DODGE. The DPS or Damage per second, doesn't change. The 15 hits with the Wind hit for tons MORE DMG, the 15 hits without wind Don't. Which means... That because the mobs are hitting less, when they actually do HIT, they make up for it in pure DMG.

I have tested this in the grove, I have tested this in catacombs. I most recently have tested it in Beta in PvP and though I can't release those findings, I can tell you matter of fact that if you really do test, and write down the statistical data, you will see my point.

I promise that we will test the hell out of it in beta and make it worthwhile, it sucks having a skill that should really help and routinely doesn't. In my tests I agree a few times, it seemed to almost work, but after crunching the actual numbers...it always turns out lame.
