Re: A weird question

The other fact is that after all alleged hoarded items get bought/sold and get placed into economy …. we are still in the same prediciment of camping.. only difference would be that drops would be sold to the highest bidder …. favouring those with money, and virtually eliminating the possibility of the non/limited plat player from getting a fair shot.
those 'hoarded' drops will collect dust forever. If selling is allowed then all items will be put in circulation, I'd rather pay 100k for an urn than have it disappear into the abyss called player_x's backpack.

I think it would be a good idea if we could sell, instead of waiting for crowns.. I think we would do the same thing we have been doing rolling class accordingly but the change would be to sell

Please keep the discussion going people. Add your thoughts.
I can see where some items would surface if allowed to be sold, but I dont think its as many as ppl believe. Maybe if Lugh wants to allow the selling of DL items, there could be a price set prior to all agreeing? I have heard many stories about the astral quest items being outrageous, we should learn from those older players and listen to their advice.
Again, please keep discussion going.

I would rather that we stick to the current system and just encourage people to dice for the drops that they need. So if I get a green urn or a blue hors which I don’t need any more I’m happy to pass on it and let another druid or mage have it. That’s the spirit that we started out with and I would suggest that we keep it going like that.

Vulture did a fantastical job initially on keeping track on who needs what and how people progressed with the quest. Would it be an idea to re-introduce a list of who needs want and who has a spare drop to give?

I would also agree that we are not going to do much better than our current system. It is one of my favorite things about Lugh. Personally I do not keep any Dragonlord pieces but give them away as quickly as possible.

I like the idea of going back to this.

I think the current problem of dust-collecting DL items (and, yes, I believe there are some) started when we said anyone could roll for their color, regardless of need. And many people do, even though they have full DL. I know some don't and I personally don't. (And I still end up with blue items that I'm begging for people to take! :D )

This system results in people who have full DL having a number of items that they don't need. Yes, many try to pass them on. But, some don't. And others don't pass to the next highest level (i.e., the person who needs it most) but, instead, keep for a lower-level clannie or an alt. Thereby skipping some higher levels. I agree that this is worst for rogues, but also bad for warriors. Rangers, druids, and mages seem to be fine--no high levels appear to be skipped as far as I can tell.

Let's go back to trying to outfit people more or less in order.

I wouldnt doubt that some high lvls are already hoarding dl drops just waiting to be allowed to sell them so i am completely opposed to selling rather than promoting further hoarding and greediness we should promote helping those around you.

Opening up for sale of DL drops now would be a fantastic reward to all those who have been sitting on DL items they dont need. I'd rather see that we went the oposite way, and state once and for all that DL items shall not be sold on Lugh, period. Overall I do not trust the assumption that there are large amounts of unused DL-drops laying around in inventories only waiting to be released the day they may be sold freely, most DL drops are won by members of clans who do their best to complete DL gear on themselves and their clannies/friends. I have registered a generally generous and cooperative attitude in Lugh regarding DL-drops, and this will vanish the day DL drops become a commodity. This change would also bring back the very hostile debate we had regarding high lvls camping Falgren in order to squeeze the Dragon disc market for max gold.

I being an "older player" in Lugh see a definite pattern here. The people that has been around long enuf to remember the chaos of earlier sales of items are against the sell. And the newer people that didnt see the problems first hand are for the sale. Now this is not to say that all are the same, but it is the consensus im seeing here. I can speak for the times when rockbelly was camped for days, and then items were sold. It was a chaos, and I know several players that left the game permanently because of the animosity created. I for one am still agains the sell of items, but would as usual go with what the majority wants. However, i post a warning now, the issues that we have seen in the past WILL REPEAT.

If anyone remembers when we firstwere able to kill aggy, there was so much problems with afew ppl buying everything at any price. This created a terrible hate from most in Lugh of those few players. Markets will be driven to HUGE levels. I can remember selling a dragon disc frag for 500 k back when the highest lux items were 200k.

I do see some advantage to selling items, but I think the disadvantages will far outweigh the advantages.

I agree with many here. There are too many ppl hanging on to items when they know others need them because they feel they deserve as much as someone else. However, until there is pressure from others in Lugh on these people to "do the right thing", they will continue to hold these items.

I also do agree that if people are dicing items to give to friends or clannies that are lower level, this goes against our agreement in the beginning. The sharing was used to equip the ones that can help lugh the most. I have already seen a few ppl that were given items quit or rarely come on to game.

Hoarding, if being done on clan level is just wrong, and goes against everything that Lugh stands for (cooperation among many). If this is happening, I will do my best to tear that apart. And if i cant, I will leave lugh altogether. Anyone that would hoard items and come to mordy or necro or hrun and watch others die, and strive to get the items needed, well i dont want ot call names, but there are many that come to mind.

I personally believe items should go to the highest levels in each class that participate in group activities in Lugh. If they just go level (Ricktor) and dont help the overall cause, then they dont deserve the items. Let them get them for themselves.

I also agree with Derken. If we allow selling now, the ppl that have hoarded items get another bonus for being able to sell at high prices what they accumulated.

+1 azzsaver

couldnt agree more. Dl should flow from the top down rather than being used as a clan baiting incentive or whatever. it definitely would benefit the world having the best of each class to be fully equipped first, than gradually work down. too many low level players are getting full dl than quitting a short time. its a total waste and if you think about it Lugh is just working backwards when this happens.
