I'm the mentally ill one? If you can point out the one calling others Mental for not following your Atheist CRAP, you might be surprised.

Notice that the Atheist cusses people out, and resorts to making bigoted comments while defending things that aren't true.

Notice the Christian, who hasn't said a cuss word on this thread/threads.

Remember God is love. Let's figure out who the Mental one is now. Atheist defeated by 'logic'. How am I not surprised?
Reality, facts, evidence isn't the domain of atheists. We all live in a single objective reality.

If you can't accept basic facts about the reality we all live in perhaps it is you that is the problem. Cussing is just the icing on the cake. It provides atmosphere. You should give it a try.

I can't wait till more of your bs religious propaganda is shot down by the supreme court and we finally once and for all turn our backs to christianity and all the bullsh** that it symbolizes.
The probability of that to occur within your lifetime is very low, even if you were born at this exact moment. Religion has been with us for over a thousand years and it will probably stay for another few hundred. Religion is on a decline though, primarily in "developed" countries. It comes down to giving everyone access to the same information, perhaps when we form a planetary government and eliminate currency. I am, however, getting ahead of myself.
No vraelan I meant going back to our original constitution where we are not a Christian nation. I mean keeping Christianity myth out of the science class. If I was not clear it's my fault there. I meant be done with this getting back to god crap as if we were founded by god lol.

And yes religion is in decline in developed countries even the good ol USA. I certainly hope I see this within my lifetime.
Ahh, my bad. Actually, I believe I somehow saw "all" instead of "more" which lead me to think of the complete eradication of religion rather than just another reduction of its impact on law. I do believe we will see some laws regarding religion in our lifetime. Well, we can actually see a bit of it now with abortion and such other things. In the Us, abortion is still allowed and it would seem that the democrats will preside in the next elections so there will be more change.

Hey Heroes,

Whilst the majority of posts follow the rules, this is a final warning to keep this thread polite and be courteous to other people's thoughts and opinions.

This includes mocking, defaming, being rude, name calling, or discussing (in a bad light) a person's education level or mental ability etc.

Before you reply, please consider the tone of your message to prevent others from taking your message the wrong way as this thread can bring up possible sensitive topics at times.

Should this end up in a repeat of the other threads before this one, the thread will be locked and subsequent threads deleted immediately.
Since it's pretty obvious that on this subject some people think facts can be an opinion perhaps it is better to simply lock all discussions since no rational discourse is possible.

Anyway, to plus3, so I assume that you still believe in leeches curing most diseases right? Because at one point that was thought to be the case and at that time could be considered "science".
Ok, so I thought I would go back to the OP and discuss what people apparently think is a barbaric mistake.

At the time of its use, medical science was not far at all; especially due to the high level of religious institutions that would still have enough influence to impact anyone who would seek information that may disprove a god.

There is no doubt that the idea that all illness resulted from an imbalance of the four humours (or some other such theory)—blood, black bile, yellow bile, and phlegm—is incorrect, but scientists of the time were still on the right track.

Bloodletting, or phlebotomy, through leeches actually helped with a few of the more common sicknesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and pulmonary oedema. Even a few rare diseases, such as haemochromatosis, where there is an overabundance of iron in the blood, required simple bloodletting and today it still remains as the most common solution.

The most important lesson to gain is that science put us on the right track as we continue to find patterns and modify our knowledge. I would say the possible chance that leeches could help is still better than the alternative, which would be to sit down and pray with a guaranteed effectiveness of zero. Well, perhaps .0001 as there are times when the placebo effect could allow a person to cure oneself.

Hi

Please stop bringing up topics that were discussed in a previous thread and stick to the topics that are in this thread.

There were reasons as to why the previous threads where locked and as such we do not wish for them to be bought into here or this thread too will be locked.

I would quite like for these discussions to be able to be continued but in a mature manner. If this is not possible then we'll need to stop these type of threads from happening.

We understand that these types of topics can become very heated as there is a lot of personal feelings behind what each person personally believes in. We ask though that people try and be understanding of each point of view instead of calling them names or calling in their educational levels ect. There is ways of discussing topics such as this in a mature manner without the need of insulting people on a personal or religious basis.

So please, try and keep things civil.

Except this is a topic about religion. And religion is not based on logic. It is not possible to have a rational discussion.

Look at the web there are countless examples.

This thread is as likely to keep a civil discussion as a who is best at this game thread. Or a congratulations on the first kill of a raid boss thread.

Every time evidence is presented it inflames some people because they chose to have a faith and opinion that is in conflict with facts and reality.

Reality is not subjective. Reality does not depend on opinions. Therefore this is likely to end badly.

I'm offering the suggestion that it be locked now. But if you would rather wait till it devolves again I'm ok with that also. Your the boss.
